She needs a night splint and a foot Massage gun. Podiatrist should assess if she also needs custom orthotics. The fascia in her foot has sort of, died in a way, and it takes a long time and daily dedication to strengthen the foot/calf/leg and butt to recover. There is no one “cure”, it varies from person to person. Dr Angela the PF Doc on YouTube has great tips.

I could be wrong, but these aren't used specifically for compression, but as another layer of protection. It keeps the other bandages clean and keeps dirt from getting in. Having been through countless wrappings by several different people at this point, I've decided that it's simply a matter of them not being able to feel how tight it is.

Honestly I’ve been having the same issue. In my case, if there is too much wiggle room in the shoe, my toes start straining when I walk, while a narrower shoe holds all the toes in place together with some compression. This way the pressure from the point of contact with the floor is spread out more uniformly and all toes kinda touch the ground together if that makes any sense.. but I think I need to see a podiatrist too lol. I heard the custom made insoles are helpful

Hey guys! I’ve had a nagging injury in my big toe of which I believe to be turf toe. I’m a very active runner and I never got around to healing it. For the last 2 3 years when I sprint it hurts pretty bad and gets inflamed. Recently it got worse and I’ve decided it’s time to do something about it. Could anyone help fix this/figure out what it is? It’s all around the bottom of big toe joint on the bottom of my foot. It definitely affects the way I walk and I can’t bend my toe as far as I can bend my other big toe. It’s not that pain necessarily stops me it’s like I hit a wall and can’t bend it anymore. Thanks for any help I can get!

I'm six weeks post op. No ice. It used to be recommended, but it's now way out of date rec since it has been shown to slow healing. Foot up above heart level will reduce swelling and pressure in a few minutes. Keep up at all times except when walking. Never stand for more than a few minutes or shuffle in place. But walk regularly. Pressure socks are not a good idea because they reduce blood flow, which you need to heal. The compressive bandage is for stability and much needed. But pay attention to how it feels as days pass, because when the doc or nurse did it they can't tell exactly how it will affect toes etc going forward. It's never comfortable, but any shooting pain in toes means the nerves are being damaged because it is too tight. Happened to me in between third and fourth toes. After 12 hours of increasing pain I finally just cut away a little and the nerves calmed down gradually. My surgeon (I saw him the next day) was unfazed 🤦🏼‍♀️so I realized I should have just made that adjustment immediately rather than risk nerve inflammation... Wishing you a smooth recovery.

Mine was wrapped so tight that after 10 weeks when the bandages came off I had a fold where a bit of the skin on the bottom of my foot had been squashed together for so long. I felt like I'd been through foot binding. Glad to say my foot is perfectly fine now.

Looks pretty normal to me. Bandage looks perfect, your toes are pink. You cut into bone, it bleeds. Bruises and swelling are what happens. Rest. Ice. Compress. Elevate.
