Gravity is always working on us: keeping us grounded, encouraging us to stand tall and strong against its downward pressure. This weekend I had a chance to be completely vulnerable to gravity: to feel it as I "flew" downward. I expected an incredibly forceful experience. The press of gravity as we flew steeply upwards in a small plane, the loud rush of wind as we hurtled downward, the feeling of being uplifted when the parachute deployed, and a hard landing.
What I actually experienced was the feeling of weightlessness, of feeling the different layers of atmosphere, and an incredible sense of gratitude. To get the momentary feeling of soaring through the sky like a bird was one of the most beautiful experiences I have had on this earth. And the landing was so graceful: feeling the brush of grass under me as we set back down on earth.
A spring rain can feel peaceful, and even uplifting. Next time it starts to drizzle, consider going out in the rain and deeply breathing the fresh air. Feel the rain in your head. Notice the coolness of the air. Listen to the sounds around you. Tuning in to your senses, being in the moment, can help you shed your stresses and feel a sense of deep calm.
In this little breathing meditation, you re speaking to your body in its language. Showing it you are are so it can bring you into that soft, relaxed place.
Early dawn: in nature it is a tie of no expectations. No to-do’s. It is a time to simply be, and watch a new day slowly come into splendor. Join me for a meditation on breathing in softness, and feel your body relax.
Join me for a mini meditation where you find peace through looking at the branching shapes of the trees. You belong to nature, and by being in nature (or even looking at it!) your nervous system goes back to its natural healing state.
Underneath the noise, underneath the stress, is an ocean of calm that you can simply breathe yourself into. A place of calm that you can find any where you are, and any time you want. Breathe with me in this mini meditation, and find your own inner quiet place.
Darkness. A time of creativity. A time of possibility. Join me for a mini meditation on creativity that brings you into your breath, and into the parasympathetic nervous mode.
Whenever one of my massage clients feels like they can’t get a nice deep breath, we have them focus on their exhale. A full exhale leads to a satisfying inhale. It takes th tension out of the breath, and helps bring you into the wonderful rest and digest state: into the parasympathetic. Peace, friend.
Trying something a little different today. Let us know what you think! Would you like us to share more of these meditations? Any areas of tension you’d would like us to address?
