FYI for you all! Construction season has begun!

Busiest stretch of highway in Maine shutting down to traffic next month I-295 between Falmouth and Portland will close for 64 hours while crews install a new bridge over Veranda Street in Portland.

Leaving behind this challenging year and sprinting (with a mask and 6ft apart..still) into the new year, with lots of hope and determination to make it one of the best!

We’d like to thank our clients, friends, and family for your support and generosity at all times but this past year you brought us to tears with your love. We are so grateful and humbled.

First, the girls from Guru want to thank all of our wonderful clients for their love and support through this crazy year. It has been challenging in so many ways for everyone and we appreciate your patience and understanding through it all.

Second, we absolutely urge you to prebook any services you’ll need before the holidays. Due to Covid-19 and state mandated restrictions, it is nearly impossible to “squeeze” in haircuts or find a last minute 2 hour color spot.
While we are all healthy and remain diligent in our sanitation practices, we want to continue to provide you with beautiful hair in a safe environment and that means making sure we stay healthy and limit unnecessary exposure.

Good morning all you beautiful people!
We’ve received CDC guidelines for salons during Phase 1 of Restarting Maine’s Economy. Below are many of the guidelines we are asked to follow. Please do this check list on yourself and cancel if you are experiencing any of the following:

* A fever.
* Any of the following: cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell or a sore throat.
* Currently living with someone who has been sick in the past 14 days.
* Have been out of the state in the last 14 days..
-Please know that we completely understand and appreciate if you need to cancel due to any illness and we, of course, will do the same.

*We ask that you remain in your car and we’ll text or wave you in so we can keep the reception area clear. Unfortunately, at this time we can’t have anyone in the salon that isn’t receiving a service.

*We will be wearing face masks and will require that all clients wear masks. We have some disposable ones on order but they may not be here in time so please bring one along. We will be wearing a protective face shield while we shampoo.

*Unfortunately, waxing services are prohibited at this time.

*We will be making appointments with added time blocked off to clean and disinfect thoroughly in between each guest.

*There are other guidelines and behind the scene actions that we will be instituting and a great deal that we have always done and will continue to do, so that we can reopen safely.

❤️Please contact your stylist directly to schedule an appointment as our schedules and opening dates are varied. We appreciate your patience and while we all try navigate our way through this new normal, we stand committed in doing our part to help protect you, ourselves, and the community.

*Regarding Guru Reopening

State officials announced yesterday that hair salons and barber shops fall into Phase 1 of Maine’s reopening plan. Today a checklist will be released defining the guidelines and requirements for reopening. We feel confident in our preparation, however, until we can assure compliance, we will not be announcing our official reopening date. We are committed to following the advice of state officials and the CDC. Our considerations regarding this are as follows;

* Have our preparations and the changes already put in place enable us to comply with these guidelines?

* If additional changes are necessary, what will that require, and how long will it take us to acquire additional supplies, if needed?

* Are the recommendations within reason, as to not restrict our ability to continue to work as professionals? Please understand that we are often preforming chemical services. These services have their own specific requirements that must be followed to keep your hair and scalp safe.

We will update you once we have a determination on the above, as well as announcing our target reopening date.

In preparation for reopening, we have been working closely with trusted leaders in our industry and believe we have acquired and changed much of what will be needed. This may include masks worn by both your stylist and you. We will be releasing our specific procedures and what to expect for future appointments once guidelines are released.

Regarding Scheduling:

* If you have missed an appointment due to closure, have prepaid for an appointment or have already requested an appointment, we will contact you to schedule once we officially announce reopening.

* We are not currently taking requests for specific dates and times in these first few weeks as our goal is to get everyone booked and back on a schedule.

Please understand this is an extremely difficult and confusing process. We will do our best to accommodate all, but please understand per order of the CDC guidelines, we may not be able to work in the manner you and we were accustomed to. (double booking, service for a whole family at once, bringing friends, etc). We ask for your patience and understanding while we prepare and adapt.

We can not express enough, how much we appreciate all of the support and kindness we have received during our closure and we thank you for being understanding and accommodating as we reopen.
