Now that I'm all settled back into Portland, I'm going to be offering Vocal Sound Healing sessions again at my office space in Sellwood starting next week. In addition to the SoothSinging sessions described on my website where we are both singing together, I am also going to be offering sessions in which I do most or all of the singing and playing music. Those sessions are best for those who wish to be more in a receptive role as sound helps to meet you where you are at and make space for where you want to be. And of course, a combination of both styles of sound healing is possible too. Don't hesitate to contact me if you want to talk more about what a session would look like before scheduling. Sliding scale is available. Thanks folks!

You cannot fake this level of emotion, this joy felt while supporting and accompanying someone who is singing from the depths of their soul, from the depths of life itself. Where encouragement and shared passion meet in its purest form...

Super acoustics have always been a vital part of human existence. We seek places where singing is more natural than talking.

Just did the math, and last night was the 10th Vocal Improvisation and Song Weaving night that Galen and I have hosted since we began in October. Time and time again, I find myself in reverence and awe to what happens when people come together, not just to sing, but to support and listen to each other as we let the unique spirit of our voices unfurl, unfold, and open into the space around us. I am so grateful for everyone who has shown up and brought so much, for your vulnerability, your care, your curiosity, your playfulness, your grief, your joy, your magic. I am so grateful to Kamila Loupal Lmt, whose cozy little basement cave room at Equilibria Wellness has been home to most of the group and one-on-one vocal work that I have offered this fall/winter.
And if this is sounding like a fare-thee-well, it is only because I am going to be in Joshua Tree for a few months, but I am very much looking forward to returning to all of it, at the very same place, when I return. It brings me joy to know that we will get to resume these Vocal Weaving nights at the same cozy space in May.
And I am so excited to sit with everything that I have learned from this Season of Singing, let it settle and rest in my body and emerge again in the spring and run wild in the summer. There are so many offerings brewing: Voice and Movement workshops, outdoor Vocal Weaving overnight adventures, Singing in Caves (more singing in the dark!), Mythological Medicine and Vocal Weaving with my dear friend and mythologist extraordinaire Catherine Svehla, and on and on.
In the meantime, if you are in Portland and you are interested in or want to keep singing in groups like this, talk to Galen Hefferman! Who is by the way also an amazing one-on-one vocal instructor.
And if you are in Joshua Tree, sing with me these next few months!!! I will be posting and sharing Vocal Weaving offerings for those in Southern California as I get settled into desert life.
And everyone, everywhere, if you feel moved to, please sing! Sing to each other, sing for each other, sing with each other. And sing for yourself, sing to yourself, sing with yourself. And the trees, and the rivers, and the mountains and the seeds about to sprout their colors and green gifts. Sing with the flighty sounds of birds and sing with the heavy drone of traffic. Sing your joys, sing your fears. It might be loud, or it might be the gentlest, softest sound. It doesn't have to sound like a song, it doesn't have to sound like anything at all. Whatever it is, it's part of this world and it's beautiful.
Here is a poem by Mary Oliver that I read last night to open the evening as Galen played guitar. I have been grateful to see so many of her poems floating around here, realizing how much she speaks of sound and song.
Thank you thank you thank you.
