This table is finished and Thad considers it one of his masterpieces!!!! Here’s the story on it! We had a sweet client bring it to us this summer and she wanted me to refinish it and make it all natural! However, she really wanted a new base and once Thad built it and I sanded the veneer top, we all agreed that a top that matched the new legs better would be perfect! We also built her 2 benches as well— I will share this transformation in stories tonight! However, we kept her table since it was such a great table and thought we could put our touch on it and sell it to someone! My cousin/coworker needed a table and with us getting close to moving time we didn’t want to move this table, so she said she would take it! We explained our vision for it, the barn quilt wood art, she loved the idea and we made it happen! . How? . Thad cut various thin strips of maple, we stained them various shades of stains and then he meticulously began cutting them at angles, fitting them in his designed pattern and then he attached them with glue and nails! He then sealed it with multiple coats of poly and it is now a one of a kind beautiful dining table! . Details HERE👇🏽 These old dressers are a dime a dozen. They have great, solid bones, but they are dated and hard to sell. Paint washing is a great way to update furniture like this. After stripping the dark finish, I sanded, then did a paint wash (diluting paint with water, brushing it on and wiping it off) then a stain wash (same concept) to add a little dimension. You can still see the gorgeous wood grain in a lighter, more modern color. If you need process details or product links, COMMENT “more” and I’ll send them to you. Yes, I will save this table!!!! I know it’s in really rough shape and I even had to prop it up with a piece of scrap wood just to stand it up right! Follow along here and in my stories for the process and for the reveal! . Here’s my plan!!! . 1. I will fix the pedestal bases— they both have an extensive damage and are basically in pieces! I am hoping the client gave me all of the pieces and I can glue it all back up like a puzzle! Then I will sand it down! 2. After this I will work on the top— it is covered in 2 different veneers that are peeling off very easily! If the wood underneath is in great shape, then I’ll stain and finish! If not, I may have to apply new veneer! .
