Sarah Maag Massage Therapy
Massage therapy for every body. Sarah Maag Massage Therapy recognizes that all bodies are unique.
Each client has specific needs--that is why no two massage sessions are alike. We draw from Western and Eastern modalities, taking into account the individual’s current complaint and medical history, always approaching issues through the lens of the client’s personal preference. Our goal is for each person to leave their treatment more relaxed, centered, and self-aware by empowering clients to intentionally seek personal balance.

Why book a massage? A colleague once told me that the only way to truly answer that question is by receiving a massage yourself. Last Monday the amazing hands of reminded me yet again of the power of presence and the importance human touch. 🙏

Take A Minute | “We do not need to be more than we are. But we do need to make sure that we are not less.” .dokun spoke these powerful words last week just after reminding us that, “It is no mistake that we—with our particular set of skills, talents, gifts, heart, passion—that we were born during this time, to tackle the challenges that are before us.”

Heat 🔥works wonders on tight, stiff muscles. If you don’t have a good heating pad, we highly recommend the large heating pad by which is microwaveable. 🙌🏽 They made us an unscented sak in a soft cream waffle knit + we quickly bought a second.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After warming your pad, get into the most confortable position possible then place the pad on the area of tension for 5-10 minutes. Afterward, gently move the area through its full range of motion. (Note: avoid heat if you recently injured the area.)

Headaches can appear out of nowhere in times of stress. Patrina has crafted a list of three at-home tips for keeping your migraines + headaches at bay in the coming weeks.💆🏼♀️💆🏻💆🏽♂️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1—Self massage or rolling a ball over muscles at the base of the head, back of the neck and shoulders to loosen tension (any time).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2—Applying finger pressure to acupressure points [30 to 60 sec] can help manage pain from headaches (during H/A). Points: (1) LI 4-Between base of thumb and index finger close to bone. (2) GB 20-Circular space on either side of posterior neck where muscles attach to skull at base of head. (3) UB 2-Slight depression under inner eyebrow above inner corner of eye. (4) ST 8-In front hairline on sides of forehead directly above cheekbone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3—A warm towel compress for 5min over neck + shoulder muscles after a migraine (never during) or during a tension headache will help to relax muscles, lessening tension. You can use an electric or microwavable heating pad as well. @ Downtown Brooklyn
