One of the most common questions I get from clients, is when should I schedule my spray tan?
Here’s what I suggest as a general rule:

•For professional photoshoots, or any event where you’ll be on camera, in print, or photographed (insert wedding day glow here too) two days prior to your event or shoot is ideal.

•For the jet setter, I typically suggest the day before traveling for your glow up. Keep in mind, chlorinated water or heavy sweating should be avoided for the first 24 hours after application for best results.

•Want to have your glow and a good time too? Grab a tan extender during your next appointment. It helps keep you glowing, even, and vibrant all while you swim, sweat, and enjoy all the places life takes you. This is your insurance policy and the ultimate glow giver.

As a witness to many who are days away from matrimony, I feel that my job as an artist is sacred. It can be a challenge to define in words what is felt in a room amongst close friends and kin. The buzz of love is palpable, and a sprinkle of anticipation lingers in the air as the timeline to the alter dwindles.

I’m often asked if I encounter challenging brides, or if this work is stressful. To which, I smile and say: never! To be in the presence of wonderful humans making a beautiful commitment from a place of love could never be stressful. Being part of such a profound act is nothing but expansive: Love always multiplies, it always creates, and it always wins.

Dalal and Nate are easily two of the most loving people I’ve ever met. Prior to her wedding day glow, we worked intermittently together for over a year, building our relationship, perfecting the process specifically for her. We shared stories and laughter, hopes and dreams, and let me tell you: this woman KNEW what she wanted out of love and life. At every turn, she is a walking talking example of love, generosity and strength. Trust me when I tell you, having the opportunity to work with women like Dalal makes this one of the most rewarding and easy career choices.

It was taken last year, but when I initially saw it, I did not have the same affinity for it. I picked it apart. It didn’t feel “polished” or “professional”, and the energy coming through felt “too casual” for the successful female entrepreneur I wanted to be seen as. I mean, I intentionally rocked the proverbial boat by forgoing shoes and a bra at a professional branding shoot, and then decided I hated it. Who does that?! Well, I guess I do. And deep down, I recognized this was my most comfortable, natural, authentic state, yet I still tried to stifle this part of my truth.

We all have a varying degree of truth we desperately want to allow to be seen, and as I recently looked at this photograph again, I was struck with new awareness:

We can’t outrun our authenticity. We can only hide from it. And hiding prolongs our suffering and our success. Being authentically you, attracts all the right situations to you, people to your table, and “success” to your human experience. Authenticity invites in an energy of receiving. It’s a proclamation to the universe that says you trust it (and yourself) enough to show up in the ways you’ve always dreamed of.

My success doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s success to still be true. Likewise, your success is as unique as you are. So let this serve as a reminder today, that the world needs your unique and authentic self; societal pressures and restrictive undergarments optional.

Women, when well loved, have an uncanny ability to multiply that energy. And when you have an opportunity to work with women who have been cultivating that space with years of friendship, growth, and care, it is LITERALLY tangible.

I walked into Melina’s beautiful NW abode on one of the hottest days this past summer. While the heat wave proved a tricky nemesis to our best laid glow up plans, it didn’t stand a chance against the optimism and love present. I could feel the energy when I entered the room. The joy and support between these women was deeply inspiring. And while they were together to celebrate nuptials, there was another celebration unfolding: A bond amongst women, welcoming in a new phase of their beloved friends evolution. It is such a joy to witness this for a living; love multiplied.

Showing up for other women has always helped me to show up for myself. There is an intense synergistic affect that happens when we come together to support one another; a special kind of magic.

It bolsters projects, careers, morale, and wisdom. It reminds us of our power, importance, and belonging. Witnessing women building and creating helps us all, whether we are consciously aware of it or not. Bringing my craft, my art, to that process is as much a reminder as it is a joy:

Where women are empowered, so are you.
So are we all.

Everyday is a good day to glow.
Everyday is a day to celebrate you.
