One of the hardest tones to create artificially and maintain is grey, yet grey blending is such a sought after service for those looking to grow out their color to natural white. ✨🤍✨One of those struggles is removing the old color without losing too much structure and creating porosity. Why is that so important aside from the obvious when it comes to grey? Because porous hair loves blue 💙and over processing will make it almost impossible to tone to that silver shine without it grabbing the much needed smoky blue and turning the hair too dark from the opacity of the pigment. But it can be done and done beautifully with the right time, product and ex*****on. 💪 Following this clients natural gray pattern, I foiled her crown in a circular pattern from the face using Keratin Powder Lightener with bonding agents, allowing me to pull the artificial and natural pigment safely with as little loss of integrity to the hair as possible, bringing her to the level 8 yellow 💛orange🧡seen in the next photo. So how did we achieve grey from there? 🤔 When mixing paint, we make grey with white 🤍and black 🖤and we do just that when mixing hair color by using level 10 and level 1. We must also tone out the exposed pigments to achieve the true grey and in this case, we wanted a smoky grey which calls for a blue base. For toning I used 10 minute keratin hair color to achieve a long lasting tone while adding shine, protein and moisture. Using the ash based neutral in the line, I toned with 10g 10/0, 10g 1/0 (to achieve grey) 5g 1b (to tone out orange and to leave a blue smoke base) and 5g 9/18 (violet blue) to remove the yellow and mixed 1:2 leaving us with this stunning blend. 💕 For home maintenance she was sent home with bhave’s Slate Toning masque and Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner 🥰🖤🤍

Curly Girl = power. Own it, wear it but nurture it. Pro tip 👉 curls need moisture to lock in shine and smooth the cuticle as well as products to hold its shape against all kinds of weather. By mixing Riot Oil and Twist and Shout curl cream, you can achieve both. The more Riot Oil mixed in, the softer the curl. The more Twist and Shout, the stronger the curl. When you cocktail the right products, you bring out your power and are ready to get some serious hair envy. Because rock.
