Good morning to all of our clients at Doc’s Chop Shop and our friends across the Upstate.
As many of you know, Doc’s Chop Shop is a veteran-owned and operated business. My military service is a core part of who I am, and during my 18 years of active duty, the unit I hold closest to my heart is the Blue Spaders (1-26 Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division).
During our 2006–2007 deployment to Iraq, our brigade and attached units lost over 80 soldiers, 31 of whom were my brothers in the Blue Spaders. Since we returned home, the battle hasn't ended; we have lost countless more of our own to the silent struggles that follow war. There are more days on the calendar than not where I find myself remembering someone we’ve lost.
This is the reality of the cost of service—a reality that stays with us long after we hang up the uniform.
On this Memorial Day, I ask you to join me in taking a moment to pause. By all means, enjoy the day, fire up the grill, and celebrate with your loved ones—that freedom is exactly what those we lost fought for. But please, take time to remember.
Remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in hopes of making this world a better place. And remember their families, who carry the weight of that loss every single day.
We thank you all for your continued support of this shop. We are proud to serve this community, and today, we honor those who gave everything.
