Quartz Creek Farm
We are a family owned and operated farm. We raise yaks for their meat and fiber. Our yaks are grass fed with no added hormones.
Yak meat is naturally very lean, low in fat. It is high in omega 3 oils, low in palmitic acid (which causes bad cholesterol), high in CLA, lower than beef in cholesterol, triglycerides and calories, and tastes delicious! During the summer we have a variety of vegetables, grown without pesticides.

This is how we preserve our home grown zucchini for the winter. 😉😋

Ok, folks, what's been eating our tomatoes? We have lots of critters around here, but with the triangle shape of the bites... maybe a turtle? What do you think?
Things have been relatively quiet on the farm for a while... until a few days ago. It's been quite sometime since a gate has been left open, but apparently one was recently. There's nothing like get up early on a Sunday morning and seeing a yak on the wrong side of the fence. It's more jolting than a shot of caffeine. Fortunately, no one had wander far during the night and didn't protest being led back to the right side.

Anyone local looking for habanero peppers? Organic, no sprays, $3 container. Or willing to trade for poblano peppers.

Today's project, Tomato & Pepper Relish, with a little kick from habanero peppers. I was hoping it would have a lot of heat, but I was a little too timid with the habaneros. Next batch might be super hot! 😂 We have plenty of peppers!

Quartz Creek Farm 's farm mom has created her own page. Check it out and follow if you'd like. 😉
Hello and welcome to my page!
I'm Lorie and I've been making and selling soap for several years now, something I really enjoy doing. A friend of mine recently introduced me to quilting and rekindled my interest in sewing and crafting with fabric. Here on Bubbles & Thread I'd like to share my enjoyment of soap making and sewing crafts, like rope bowls. I hope you'll follow along with me, visit me at craft shows and Farmers Markets, and share your enthusiasm for crafts with me!

We had a little excitement very close to the farm last week. Most likely a tree, or branch, fell across some power lines starting a brush fire below them. Came right up to our fence line and was stopped right there. Thanks to Powhatan County Fire and Rescue. Great job!
