It’s been a quite a while since I posted a before and after. This past year has been a struggle. After losing Brian I felt guilty about moving forward with so many things because he couldn’t. My business was one of them. It felt trite and insignificant. I felt guilty for posting as if life was moving on and his death didn’t not matter. But the truth is life doesn’t stop for anyone. I can sit back and wallow in self pity and guilt because I couldn’t save him or I can move forward. Moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting. Moving forward doesn’t mean disrespecting and most importantly moving forward doesn’t mean I can’t share my grief, heartache or love for him. I will continue to try to help other addicts or families of addicts. Trying to get out of the pit of grief I get stuck in just means I know I can’t allow myself to remain stagnant in one place. Grief will always be with me over what will never be, over him dying so young and missing so much, over my youngest grandbabies being robbed of all the fun and tradition he provided the older ones - there will always be grief and regret but I can move forward. Jumping back into my business is about me, my goals to retire and something I use to find so much joy in. Thank you to the loyal customers and team members who have stuck with me this past year. I know I have been inconsistent and unavailable. But I am stronger, I am ready and I will rebuild. Life is too short and I don’t want further regrets so here is too the future, the fire in my belly and that five year plan to retire and spend as much time with those babies and grandbabies of mine as possible. #

I had the opportunity to do my gorgeous daughter’s makeup a few times while we were away together this weekend. A song came on the radio as I was trying to capture an IG worthy selfie. As with anything during this journey of grief I never know what may trigger me. Well in this moment it was that song. I was trying hard, as you can see, to finish what I started and capture a selfie but I got a few emotional pics in the group.

Those are the real pictures - the ones that really show where I am not where I want you to see me. Grief is hard don’t let someone else tell you where you should be or how you should feel.

This may seem silly but it is a difficult post for me because I don’t like weakness. I like that I am strong. i like that I am a warrior. But life is giving me a lot of lessons lately in just how vulnerable and human I am.
