This was our first time working together, and she came in with a heavy line of grow-out from previous highlights that were leaving a pretty harsh line after just a few weeks. She gave her hair enough time to grow out so we could start transitioning her into a more lived-in balayage approach—something softer, more dimensional, and much lower maintenance long term.

The goal was to break up that harsh line while still keeping brightness throughout her hair, allowing for a more seamless grow-out that looks natural and lasts longer between appointments.

First things first, we addressed the haircut and brought some life back into her over-processed ends. Then I began painting my canvas, focusing brighter pieces around the front to keep brightness around her face while being much more conservative through the back since I was really appreciating the soft, rooty dimension she already had growing in naturally.

To help create even more depth and dimension, I strategically painted in lowlights to start building the softer, lived-in color we eventually want organically. This is exactly why I love balayage for so many of my clients—it gives you softness, dimension, and flexibility without feeling overly high maintenance.

This was our second time working together, and she came in wanting something that felt a little more effortless and undone. Her hair had been feeling flat and heavy, so we were ready to bring some life back into it.

First things first, we addressed the cut. I brought the length up slightly to clean up the ends, then leaned into a s**g (or “wolf cut”) to create that perfectly imperfect, lived-in texture.

Her energy and personal style really guided this one—I always take that into consideration when shaping the cut and color so it actually feels like you, not just a look.

For her color, the goal was to keep things natural and low maintenance. I hand-painted subtle dimension to bring those layers to life, so even air-dried, her hair still moves and has that effortless edge.
