My daughter cut off her beautiful hair herself—and when I learned the reason, I rushed straight to my husband.
Nicole absolutely loved her hair.
It was long, thick, and full of curls that often drew compliments wherever we went. Sure, brushing it could be a daily struggle, and many mornings were filled with complaints as I worked through the knots, but she never once asked for a shorter hairstyle.
Her hair was something she took pride in.
So when she walked into the kitchen holding a freshly cut ponytail in her hand, my heart nearly stopped.
"Nicole," I gasped. "What happened to your hair?"
Her curls now hung unevenly around her shoulders, as though she'd cut them off in one determined moment without a second thought.
She looked at me calmly.
"It's for Daddy," she said.
I stared at her in disbelief.
"For Daddy?" I repeated. "Did Daddy tell you to do this?"
She immediately shook her head.
"No. But it's for Daddy."
