Well, it's official. I have finally made a move into my own space. Introducing the MANtiquity Tonsorium! Allow me to explain. I have been barbering now for nearly 9 years, and I have always wanted to start my own shop. After considering various other names and rejecting them for one reason or another, my beautiful wife came up with this amazing beauty of a business name. Yes, it is a bit of a mouthful, but I think it is the best! A tonsorium is the original Barber Shop name from ancient Rome. It is where professionals would ply their trade cutting, clipping, and shaving their patrons' hair. And if I have to explain "MANtiquity" then we need to address your low humor levels and why this word is funny at our next appointment!
At Mantiquity Tonsorium, I hope to celebrate and honor the history of this great trade. I love what I do, I have been blessed to be the barber for so many great people. This has been a dream come true career for me. I look forward to all the new adventures to come, and I hope that you will join me here, making history of our own, at the Mantiquity Tonsorium!

Back to School!

It's not too late! School is back in session, but you can still get freshened up now, it still counts!

I don't have much in the way of updates for this week. There is good-ish news for the wrists and back though and that is that the surgeons all recommended we not do anything surgical yet. The wrists are on a "wait and see" situation, and my back is in the clear for now. I'm going to PT every week now to hopefully avoid the need for any operations entirely. With any luck (and all your prayers and good vibes) I'll be barbering forever, and back to drumming around the end of this year!

The schedule is going to be opened up largely. I thank you for your patience with the craziness over weekends. I have finally heard back from the roofing people, and they still don't have a date for us. I am pretty sure it will be sometime in October at this point though, so September is all opened up now!

I will be keeping the same 8:30 to 7:00 schedule for the time being. I may have to adjust a bit in the future as my wife starts into a new employment adventure, but for now I hope to get as many of you as possible so I'm keeping my hours longer.

A quick little PSA now: Please don't try to book through Facebook on The Grand Marshall Barber page. It doesn't coordinate with my Square, so I don't ever see those requests. I am trying to delete the account at present because it just isn't of use to me. It has caused many problems recently, so please reach out to me directly if you need assistance instead of trying to go through that page. Thanks!

Also: If you are out of the MST time zone, DON'T try to set an appointment. Call or text me and I can do it for you. Square has not fixed the issue which messes up people's appointment times on my schedule when it crosses time zones. I have complained to them several times, but it is apparently really tough to fix that issue. Hit me up if you have any concerns or questions. Thanks!

Sorry for missing last week!

Hey all! As the title suggests, I am sorry for missing the update last week. It wasn't a lot to reveal at that time.

As some of you know, I was recently handed a bit of a scary diagnosis. I had to get some MRI's a few weeks ago, and the initial analysis was that I had fully ruptured a pair of ligaments. One in each wrist. I could only speculate on the potential consequences before, but I was able to meet with a surgeon yesterday to consult about it, and he was far more positive about the situation than I had been. I have another surgical consult next week to get a second opinion just to make sure that I'm getting a more well-rounded perspective, but the doctor yesterday had a very positive outlook on the situation. He said I might not require surgery at all in the end, which is a very good thing, but that if I do I will be able to push it out till the new year. If that does happen I may be looking at anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks out of work per wrist, so it has been a scary prospect. I will certainly keep you guys posted on any additional developments, but for now send me your prayers and Good Vibes that my wrists and back can improve all by themselves haha 😅🙏🏻.

As far as business hours go, for now I plan to continue my 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. schedule for as long as I can. I should be able to do that at least until the end of September. Some adjustment may be necessary at that point, so make sure you take advantage of these hours while they're available.

My weekends are the only weird thing right now on my agenda. I still haven't heard back from the roofers, so I haven't been able to keep Friday and Saturdays open until midweek. My plan right now is to open up Saturday if I don't hear back from the roofers by tomorrow. In the meantime, there are a few spots left for the weekdays right now, but keep an eye out for some extended Saturday hours to potentially be there tomorrow.

In other news, we have found homes for two of our six puppies! One female and one male down, the "twins" Oak and Penny, have found there forever families. We are hoping for a few more people to come and see them this week, and hopefully we will have some other pups finding their forever homes too. 😊

It's a short week!

Hey all, sorry for not getting an email out yesterday! Our family got caught up with the Pioneer Day celebrations.

THIS WEEK WILL BE SHORT FOR ME.

TODAY AND TOMORROW ONLY.

I have to be home to take care of the puppies as my family travels out of town to see family before the summer ends.

Please make sure to get a spot if you need a cut before this weekend or else you'll need to wait another week!

I am hoping to have conclusive word on my roofing project today 🤞🏻 I will know soon whether the project is this week, next week, or the week after next. That project will put me out of the office Friday and Saturday of whatever week it is.

In other news, the pups are already 7 weeks old, had their first shots, and each got a clean bill of health at their checkup today!

The puppies are growing too fast and I don't want to think about sending them to live with anyone else, but it is quickly becoming a reality that they'll need awesome new families to love them 😭

Back open this week!

For those of you who have inquired, thank you for your patience. I have had some ups and downs recently with the folks who are going to be helping you with my roof, so I didn't know if this week would be on the books or not. It's official though, my roof isn't happening anytime soon so I am going to be in the office usual hours Wednesday to Saturday.

Thanks to those who have been sending in friends and family and other referrals. I've already doled out a few discounts, and I am happy to give out more!

Freedom day is coming!

Independence Day is next week and it's going to be hot!

Hey all! The temperature is this week are reading in the '80s! It's getting hot out there, so make sure you get in and secure your spot before the 4th of July rush. Next Tuesday is the 4th, so I won't be in then. Make sure you schedule your time between now and Saturday to be sure you look fresh for Independence Day!

I don't know what the rest of next week is going to look like right now, there might be a big project I have to take care of at home. I will keep you all informed as soon as possible.

Full Version:

The puppies eyes are open!!! I wish that I could include more pics here, but ask me when you're in the shop and I'll happily show you some of the newer photos that I've been taking. I'll likely be posting them up on KSL soon, and if anyone is interested, or if you know someone looking for a great active lifestyle family dog, let me know! We welcome anyone interested in a puppy to come over and meet the parents and get a feel for the pups personally. Just FYI we are asking $500 for the males and $600 for the females. Thanks!

This week is pretty standard. No crazy scheduling changes that I know of yet, so I'll keep you posted if anything happens.

The anniversary weekend was great and productive. Lots of changing at the home due to the puppies growth and increasing needs, and some great date time with the wifey to celebrate 12 years hitched!

I will be in the office during my current regular hours 8:30am to 7pm Tuesday through Friday, and Saturday 8:30am to 3pm.

ATTENTION:

I need to build up my book of clients again as the summer is taking its toll in internships, summer jobs, and graduates moving out of state. Also, everyone is hitting up vacation time (which is great!) and it really puts a dent in my productivity!
