Achieving optimal health with advanced laboratory testing, imaging and scientifically based nutrition

We believe that we should not strive for average, but excellence. We want our clients to put themselves first and to optimize their health so they can pursue excellence in the rest of their lives. Our job is to help you be your best version of you... whatever that goal may be. For some, the goal is to lose 100 lbs or 5 lbs, and for others it is to run their fastest marathon in their 5th decade or

Dr. Stacy Sims just dropped a masterclass on Huberman Lab on female training, fasting, hormones, and longevity. 100+ peer-reviewed studies. One message: everything women were told was built on the wrong data.

Here are the 9 things you need to know:

→ Fasting disrupts female hormones in as little as 4 days — two areas of kisspeptin neurons are affected, including the one controlling oestrogen and thyroid. Men's tipping point for fuel need: 15 cal/kg lean mass. Women's: 30 cal/kg.
→ Fasted training burns lean muscle, not fat — the hypothalamus breaks down muscle first when it detects low glucose. A small amount of protein before training changes the entire hormonal environment.
→ Women's post-training metabolic window: 45 minutes. Men's: up to 3 hours. The "no post-workout window" research is based entirely on male data. Miss it consistently and adaptation is blunted.
→ Moderate intensity is the worst zone for women — it elevates cortisol without triggering the GH and testosterone that bring it back down. Train very hard or very easy. Nothing in between.
→ From mid-30s: lift heavier, not more. 4–6 reps with 2 in reserve. Compound movements. Heavy loads invoke the CNS response oestrogen used to create automatically.
→ Perimenopause can start at 35. Signals: training not producing results, body composition shifting, disrupted sleep, frozen shoulder or plantar fasciitis — all linked to oestrogen fluctuation.
→ Creatine at 3–5g/day supports brain energy, improves mood (outperforming SSRIs alone in RCTs), and protects gut mucosal integrity. Hair loss in your 40s is progesterone-driven — not creatine.
→ Sauna immediately after training expands blood volume and builds cardiovascular capacity via EPO stimulation — equivalent to some altitude training benefits. Cold after resistance training can blunt hypertrophy gains.
→ High-intensity training produces lactate — a direct brain fuel. Women produce less lactate than men naturally. Research links inadequate lifetime lactate exposure to significantly higher Alzheimer's risk in women.

Which of these 9 surprised you most? Drop the number in the comments.
