This appointment is considered a Transformative Dimensional Color because she came in with mostly level 3/4 virgin hair so we had a lot of lightening to add!
One big appointment is followed by either mini or maintenance appointments for the next 6+ months. THAT is what I consider lived in.

CHANGE. It’s unpredictable, scary, and uncomfortable, but it has always been something that I’ve welcomed with open arms. When I started at Salon Ish, nine years ago, I was a single mom of a three-year-old, who lived with her parents and had zero clientele. Fast forward five years, @fabulish and I launched a successful apprenticeship, I taught multiple sold out classes, and built the clientele of my absolute dreams. Fast-forward four more years, I am married, have two kids, still have amazing clients, and adore my coworkers. So, why make the change? I’ve always dreamt of having a space of my own where clients could come to escape for a bit. That’s all. I can’t wait for you to feel the vibes of my salon suite. I am so proud 🤍

There are a few important things to note here. In the first photo, my clients natural hair level is about a level six. In the second photo, my clients natural level is a level two. The first thing you’ll notice is the difference in brightness achieved. The lighter natural is going to lift with less effort than the darker natural and appear much brighter. Another thing you’ll notice is the contrast. The natural darker level will have a higher contrast making it look more dimensional than the lighter natural level. CLIENTS, it is so important to search for inspiration photos that are close to your natural color so you get a better visual of what is realistic for you. STYLISTS, it is just as important to dissect the photo and help your client understand any differences there may be and why it may look different at the end of their appointment. Was this helpful?!
