Summer is right around the corner, which means the heat is coming and you’re going to want to take these steps to make sure to protect your hand tied extensions…..

Sunscreen can be a subtle foe with extensions. Before lathering on the good stuff, make sure it does NOT contain avobenzone! Avobenzone is an oil-soluble ingredient found in some sunscreens. Avobenzone creates a chemical reaction with the extensions and turns them a peachy-pink color...but not in a cute way! This is very hard to reverse so it is extremely important you keep that away at all costs!

Chlorine and salt water can be very damaging but if you insist on getting your hair wet pre-soak your hair and add conditioner or a leave-in before you swim.

Try to avoid letting your hair soak in water; instead, pat dry your extensions at the root as soon as you’re out of the water. You can also rough-dry your hair with a hairdryer at the roots and let the rest of your hair air dry.

After applying lotion and sunscreen, be sure to wash and dry your hands very well to remove any oily residue and avoid touching your hair too much, especially at the roots.

Ultraviolet rays aren't so great for your skin or your hair extensions. Apply a UVA/UVB hair protectant to your hair before heading out into the sun. Reapply the product throughout the day if you're spending hours outside, especially before and after getting into the water.
Pro tip: Add a sun hat! Not only will you look fabulous, but you'll also be adding protection to your hair from UV rays and helping prevent dryness.

When it comes to summer hair care, leave-in conditioners, conditioning masks, and repair oils are at the top of the must-do list. They help keep hair extensions from drying out, getting tangled, and breakage. Don’t be afraid to ask for recommendations, I got you!!

Spring time is calling for those beach waves! Want your curl to last?

-Prep with product!
I use a hydrating serum or leave in conditioner (Davines] Oi all in one milk), next I finish with a dry texturize spray (.murphy Doo.over) at the roots for maximum volume!!

Your tools are everything! I use my long barrel 1 inch curling iron.

-Section your hair, always starting from the bottom building your foundation.
- Hold the curling iron upright with the clamp facing forward, place a one to two inch section of hair into the clamp, leaving an inch or two of the ends out to create a beachy wave, then twist the iron away from your face.
Once the iron reaches the crown of your head, hold for three to four seconds, then open the clamp and pull the iron straight down to release.
Repeat on the left and right sides. Avoid touching your curls until they are completely cool. Spray with Davines] medium hold and brush!

Tips on keeping your blonde bright!

- Don’t overuse purple toning shampoos, this will not lighten your hair! it can make it look darker and dull on the hair if it's used too often. I recommend every 2 weeks!
- When you are out in the sun make sure to use UV protection ( sun catcher is a good one) to protect your color.
- If you don’t have a water softener, get a show filter (Amazon).
- Use a clarifying shampoo (Kevin Murphy detox) once every 2 weeks to remove product build-up.
