Can you tell which brush is the expensive one? 👀

Here’s your reminder that when you’re first starting out, you do NOT need the most expensive name brand brushes to create beautiful work.

A good face painting brush is less about the logo and more about performance.

Here’s what actually matters:
• synthetic taklon or nylon bristles
• holds water without getting floppy
• firm with a good snap/bounce
• bristles stay together when wet
• doesn’t shed easily
• sturdy ferrule + handle
• keeps a sharp point after multiple washes

One of the biggest differences I notice between cheap vs expensive brushes is how well the bristles stay together when wet. Cheap brushes tend to separate faster, which can make clean lines harder.

That being said, when you’re ready to invest in higher quality brushes, do it ✨ There ARE differences, and better brushes can absolutely make painting easier and more consistent over time.

But don’t let not having expensive supplies stop you from starting. Some affordable brushes perform AMAZING and can still help you build incredible skills.

The brush matters.
The brand matters less.
