We are actively looking for new pastures for this herd. We will be selling our property next year and would love to find a new home where they can stay together. Or they could stay with the property😉

In the past year Happy Road Goat Farm hasn’t had many posts. We have been focusing on a huge change and will be selling our herd this year. Last year was supposed to be our last kidding season but ended up with an accidental pregnancy which produced two bucklings this year. Ideally we’d like to keep the herd together and have some spectacular milking does. Of the kids born, the three bucks from our first year have been sold. We currently have 4 does, 1 in milk. 1 yearling doe, 1 whether, and our 2 kids this year have been whethered.

Late last year, our three bucks broke through the door to get to our doe Jolene who was in heat. Despite my efforts to wrangle them and get them separated from her, she ended up pregnant. Her last kid was supposed to be the end of our kidding seasons. Fast forward to yesterday, Jolene went into labor early afternoon and going off her last birthing I thought we’d see babies that afternoon. 9 hours of labor later, a buckling presented upside down breached hooves and he had to be pulled out. After that the placenta was out and we waited to make sure baby ate. Went in, took a shower and got into bed but had to do one check on the goat cam to make sure they were doing good only to find Jolene laying down pushing. Breached buckingnumber two arrived at 22:17 am and also had to be pulled. Also, the entire well prior was sunny and in the high 60s to low 70s which was abnormally warm for an Arizona winter, but Jolene waited to kid on a cold rainy night. Welcome our last kids, Drizzle (D Rizzle) and Storm.
