TOILET LEARNING TIP 🚽

Watch for your toddler’s natural potty cues.

Maybe they:
• Suddenly get quiet
• Hide or go to a certain spot
• Squirm or hold themselves
• Pause what they’re doing

Instead of constantly asking, “Do you need to go?” try gently pointing out what you notice:

“It looks like your body might be telling you it’s time to try the toilet.”

You’re helping them connect the feeling in their body with what to do next.

Body awareness takes practice. 🌿

🌙 Toddler Sleep Routine Tip Tuesday

Sometimes the best addition to a bedtime routine isn’t another step—it’s connection. 🤎

Toddlers have busy little days filled with new experiences, big feelings, and lots of stimulation. A few quiet minutes of one-on-one connection can help create a gentle transition into sleep.

Try:
🤎 A few minutes of cuddling
📚 Reading one or two favorite books
💬 Talking about something they enjoyed that day
🎵 Singing the same quiet song each night

You don’t need a long, elaborate bedtime routine.

Sometimes your calm presence is the most comforting part of it. 🌙

Save this for bedtime tonight.

A tantrum isn’t a toddler trying to manipulate you or get attention.

Big feelings can overwhelm a toddler’s still-developing ability to regulate themselves.

You don’t have to give in to a demand to offer connection.

You can hold the boundary and support the child through the feeling:

🤎 “I know you’re upset. I won’t let you hit. I’m right here.”

Toddlers don’t need us to make every big feeling disappear. They need us to help them learn that feelings are safe, manageable, and temporary.

Toddlers are capable of helping with their belongings—and putting shoes away is a simple place to start.

This everyday task helps build:

🤎 Independence
🤎 Responsibility
🤎 Order and routine
🤎 Coordination
🤎 Confidence

Show your toddler where the shoes belong, then let them practice putting them there each time they come inside.

They might not get it right every time. That’s part of learning.

The goal isn’t perfect. The goal is participation. 🌿

It can be tempting to let your toddler “run out their energy” before bed—but stimulating play right before bedtime can sometimes make settling down harder.

Instead, use the last part of your evening to gradually shift from active → calm → sleepy.

Try swapping rough-and-tumble play for:
📚 Reading books
🧩 Quiet puzzles
🧸 Looking at books or doing simple play
🤎 Snuggling and talking about the day

Your toddler doesn’t need a perfect bedtime routine. They need predictable cues that help their body and brain understand: it’s time to slow down. 🌙

Save this for your next bedtime!

Toddlers can know how to do something and still need help sometimes.

A toddler may be capable of putting on their shoes—but ask you to help when they’re tired, frustrated, rushed, or overwhelmed.

That’s not “going backward.” It’s normal development.

Independence isn’t about doing everything alone. It’s about having the skills, confidence, and support to gradually do more for themselves.

🤎 Sometimes the most supportive thing we can say is:

“I know you can do it. I’m here if you need help.”

One of the simplest ways to encourage toddler independence?

Give them more time. 🌱

Toddlers are still developing coordination, concentration, and confidence. Something that takes us 10 seconds might take them several minutes.

Getting dressed.
Putting shoes on.
Pouring a drink.
Cleaning up.
Washing their hands.

It can be tempting to step in because we’re in a hurry—but whenever possible, build a little extra time into the routine.

Instead of:
❌ “Here, let me do it.”

Try:
💛 “Take your time.”
💛 “You can try.”
💛 “I’m right here if you need help.”

You don’t have to make every moment a lesson. Just giving your toddler the time and space to participate can build confidence and independence.

TOILET LEARNING TIP 🚽

Let them practice the skills before they need the toilet.

Pulling pants down.
Sitting down.
Standing back up.
Pulling pants back up.

These are all skills your toddler needs for toilet learning—and they can be practiced without pressure.

The goal isn’t to rush the process.

It’s to help your toddler feel capable and confident. 🌿
