The Loc Removal Process

One of the first questions clients ask me is, “How long will it take to remove my locs?” The truth is, every hair journey is different, so I can’t give an exact time frame or price until I see your hair in person.

The first things I look at are:
• How much new growth you have
• How much hair you want to retain beyond the new growth
• The condition and size of your locs
• Your desired end result

Once I get into a good groove with the loc removal process, the work tends to move faster. And honestly, good conversation always helps me find my rhythm! 😊

One thing I always tell my clients is that you may not retain the full length of your locs. That’s why it’s important for us to discuss your goals beforehand.

This beautiful client had been growing her locs for 18 years and knew she wanted a large natural fro. Because of her goals and the condition of her hair, I felt confident that we could make the transition successfully.

I started at 9:15 AM and worked on her loc removal in between my regularly scheduled clients. Each loc took approximately 10–20 minutes to remove. We wrapped up around 4:30 PM, and she left happy and excited about her transition from locs back to her natural hair.

Every loc removal tells a different story, and it’s always an honor to be part of that journey. 💛
