I’ve been a hairstylist for 12 years and on my own for 8… and yes 😭 I definitely failed my first 5 years as a salon suite owner.
Before Covid, I thought I was doing amazing because I had my own suite and retained my clientele. But truthfully? I still had SO much to learn.
I knew how to do hair… but I didn’t fully understand the BUSINESS side behind it yet.
Inventory. Taxes. Continued education. Branding. Building a website. Having an LLC. Managing expenses.
My mindset had to shift from commission stylist to actual business owner REAL quick.
Looking back now, every mistake and hard lesson honestly helped shape me into the hairstylist and business owner I am today …but you got to do the work to know your business
