Not every wash day requires the same type of conditioner.

The key is learning how to choose your conditioner based on the current condition of your hair and what you’re trying to accomplish.

Quick conditioner? Deep conditioner? Protein or strengthening treatment?

They each serve a different purpose—and understanding why you’re using a product is just as important as the product itself.

Healthy, manageable hair starts with understanding what your hair needs.

Save this one for your next wash day.

Your hair isn’t betraying you. It may just be changing.

One of the most frustrating parts of aging hair is realizing that the routine you’ve trusted for years suddenly doesn’t seem to work anymore.

Your curls don’t hold the same. Your hair feels drier or rougher. Your grays behave differently. Your color doesn’t seem to last. Your hair doesn’t appear to grow back as quickly as it once did.

And naturally, you start asking: What am I doing wrong?

But that may be the wrong question.

As we age, our hair can change too—and continuing to care for it exactly the way we did years ago may no longer give us the same results.

So before you buy another product or completely overhaul your routine, pay attention to the hair that is actually on your head now.

What has changed?

Because healthy hair care isn’t about forcing your hair to behave the way it used to.

It’s about learning what it needs in the season you’re in now.

Your hair is allowed to age.

Your hair care should evolve with it.

We don’t just want you to leave the salon loving your hair. We want you to understand it.

Education has always been a foundational part of the experience at The Phairmacy Salon. The same principles I teach here—healthy hair care, proper cleansing and conditioning, understanding your products, choosing appropriate styling techniques, and creating a manageable routine—are the principles we use with our clients behind the chair.

Because your hair shouldn’t only look good when your stylist does it.

Our goal is for you to understand what your hair needs, why we’re doing what we’re doing, and how to maintain your results between appointments.

There’s something special about watching a client’s hair flourish over time, but it’s even better watching the client become more confident in caring for it herself.

Healthy. Manageable. Understood.

That’s always the goal.

One of the most common concerns I hear from women embracing their gray is, “Why doesn’t my gray look as bright as it used to?”

My first thought is not automatically, “You need purple shampoo.”

I want to know what you’re using on your hair, how often you’re cleansing it, whether you have hard water, what chemical services you’ve had, and when the change in color started.

That matters because toning a buildup problem doesn’t address the buildup.

I recently had a client whose gray had developed a noticeable yellow cast after introducing a moisturizing product into her routine. Once we identified what was happening, we could remove the buildup and brighten the hair rather than simply continuing to layer products onto it.

This is also why I don’t recommend treating purple or blue-violet shampoo like your regular shampoo. It has a specific job: neutralizing unwanted warmth. If you don’t need that correction, you don’t necessarily need the toner.

Gray hair care is often much simpler than people think.

Pay attention to what your hair is telling you, identify what changed, and choose the treatment based on the problem you’re actually trying to solve.

Beautiful gray hair doesn’t require a complicated routine. It requires an intentional one.

Your identity has been anchored in your hair when it should’ve been anchored in God.

Be honest — how many times has a bad hair day changed everything about how you showed up?

You canceled. You hid. You shrunk.

That’s not a hair problem sis. That’s an identity problem. And God has something to say about it.
