I’m usually early, but rarely….🙃

Everyone’s terrified that non-invasive technology (that's been around for awhile) either “does nothing” or “melts your natural facial fat.” But the trick is using the right frequencies & protocols to target skin depth without compromising volume.

Think of it like a built in corset for the face: by thermally contracting collagen, it directly reinforces the deep retaining ligaments to deliver a structural lift without harming fat.

My results after two sessions (4 months after first session, 2 months after the second session). Absolutely no other skin were treatments done.

When a medium-depth peel is doing its job, the skin undergoing the peeling process is actually dead, cornified tissue that is still chemically tethered to living, highly sensitive cells underneath.

When you pull a single flake, it creates a zipper effect. Because the acid has compromised the structural integrity of the stratum corneum, pulling a loose piece exerts mechanical stress on the healthy, newly forming epidermal layer below. This mechanical trauma forces the body into an emergency inflammatory response, triggering melanocytes to overproduce pigment as a defense mechanism….resulting in stubborn post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

HELPFUL TIPS YOU DONT OFTEN THINK ABOUT

•The “Saturate & Snip” Trick: Hanging skin catches on pillowcases, face masks, and shirts, causing accidental tearing. You can heavily coat the hanging skin in a thick layer of a healing ointment for 5 minutes to completely soften the edges. Once the dead skin is fully saturated and pliable, you can safely use sanitized eyebrow scissors to snip the loose part without pulling the anchored root.

•Beware of “Micro-Friction”: Most people think “picking” only means using their fingers. In reality, side-sleeping on a standard cotton pillowcase creates enough micro-friction to prematurely rub off peeling skin during the night. Be mindful your first few days post peel and maybe switch to a high-slip silk or satin pillowcase for the first 7 days to let the skin shed on its own timeline.  Not always necessary.

•The Yawning & Chewing Factor: Aggressive facial expressions, wide yawning, or eating highly crunchy foods can prematurely crack the dry, tight “mask” of dead skin before it is biologically ready to separate. For the first 3 to 4 days, be mindful and minimize exaggerated facial expressions or opt for softer foods to prevent premature tearing around the mouth and jawline.

I still meet women in their forties and sixties who are told their symptoms are “just stress” all the time. There is way more to that when it comes to the estrobolome.

Your liver processes estrogen in two phases: breaking it down, then tagging it for disposal. before sending it to the gut to exit. But if your gut microbiome is out of balance, certain bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-glucuronidase. This enzyme acts like biological scissors, cutting the tag off and returning that active estrogen straight back into your circulation.

One enzyme is the difference between estrogen leaving your body and estrogen taking another lap. This is why two women with identical estradiol levels can live in completely different bodies. The standard lab measures the pool. It doesn’t measure the drain. And it certainly doesn’t tell you which metabolic pathway your estrogen took on the way down, the protective pathway or the proliferative one.

Those are three entirely separate clinical questions, and a standard blood panel only answers one.

How this bottleneck shows up across the decades:
• Your Reproductive Years: Heavy cycles, fibroids, endometriosis, and painful jawline acne the week before you bleed.
• Perimenopause: Wild estrogen surges you can’t buffer, because progesterone left first, often years before estrogen actually declines.
• Post-Menopause: Rapid skin aging and sudden reactivity, because your skin is a highly estrogen-responsive organ, and you lose roughly 30% of its collagen within five years of your last period.

Same hormone. Different exit rate. Different decade.

If you are currently treating your acne, your heavy bleeding, your disrupted sleep, and your changing skin as four separate problems, you are working downstream of a single, central pattern. One vital note: Several of these targeted strain and herbal interventions will actively change your lab values. Test first. Then treat. Otherwise, you’ve spent money just to make your own biochemistry harder for us to read.

Save this post, and send it to the friend who keeps being told she’s “fine”.

There is so much recycled noise (some valid points) on my timeline right now about XERF and the SMAS…I totally get the initial hesitation. Your immediate thought when a new device claims it can reach the “facelift” layer is: “Is this going to scar down the SMAS and ruin my future surgical planes?”

Valid question.

But the current panic is becoming an echo chamber and extension of misinformation…. people are conflating two completely different mechanisms of action. The physics are entirely different, and the histology proves it. Swipe through. Let’s break down the actual data and look at the science.

Why I retired traditional facials in January. 🤫It wasn’t a rebrand. It was the data.

A new study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology confirmed what I’d been watching in my own treatment rooms: laser-assisted facials don’t just work on the surface…they work at the cellular level.

Traditional facials treat what you can see. Lasers work where those areas fall short… for example…

• Pigment, addressed at its source. We’re influencing melanin activity where it starts, not exfoliating dark spots off the top layer only to watch them return.
•Fibroblast activation. Deep dermal stimulation that turns collagen production back on. No peeling. No downtime.

🔊 Sound on for the full breakdown. Questions about lasers, drop them below.

When we treat aging at every layer, the results speak for themselves: softer, lifted, and genuinely refreshed without looking like a different person. She wanted to go slow and not jump into the deep end right away. No fillers. In her after photo, you’ll notice:

•Softer nasolabial folds (those smile lines)
•Restored volume in the cheeks
•A refreshed, brighter under-eye area
•A more lifted, smile and defined jawline

Most people don’t get aging isn’t just about one thing or skin deep. It happens in layers. Some regions of the face faster than others. As we get older, our face changes from the inside out:
•Bone slowly resorbs, so we lose structure and support
•Fat pads shrink and shift, creating hollows and sagging
•Muscles lose tone and volume
•Skin thins, dries out, and loses its bounce

That’s why chasing one wrinkle rarely works. The higher the number on your birthday cake, the more strategic and tailored your plan has to be in treating the layers underneath.

Here’s what actually moved the needle for her:
•Laser facials → smoothed skin texture and boosted overall skin quality
•Sculptra (PLLA) → a biostimulator that gently kickstarts your own collagen for firmer, healthier-looking skin over time
•Mesotherapy → calmed under-eye puffiness (edema) and tightened skin laxity for that fresh, well-rested glow

The result ….refreshed. She looks rested, lifted, and like herself again, because we worked with her anatomy instead of against it. That’s the difference between chasing trends and working with constraint.
