Today would have been my dads 65th birthday. His recent exit was sudden & unexpected. The last couple months have certainly been tough without him. I’m fortunate to have so many beautiful memories to call back. Even though he’s no longer here, I think he’s still worth celebrating.

What I loved most about my dad was his dedication and his drive. He always felt he could do anything. There was nothing he couldn’t build, or fashion one thing into another in a pinch. I’ve learned recently that what drove him work so hard was seeing what he could build with his own two hands. I totally get it - I’m the same way too.

He was a person who always felt good with what he had, and bc he was naturally good at doing things the desire to help others came naturally to him. He was always there to help my mom, my siblings and I, as well as family and friends.

And so, today on your birthday I celebrate your memory and the power of your “enoughness”, and I take a page from your book of life and carry that spirit with me too.

The #1 mistake I often see w/lip blushing.

Would you believe the top photo is a 2 year old faded lip blush?

This brings me to the #1 mistake I see too often with lip blushing. I see that colors mixed incorrectly applied too heavily.

I believe a true “lip blush” should end up looking like a soft veil of color once it’s healed.

When I create a lip color for a lip blush application, I want to ensure 3 things:

• I want that color to heal well
• I want it to age well
• I want it to leave the skin gradually in an appropriate amount of time

These 3 things are too hard to control when the colors are mixed incorrectly and/or implanted too heavily.

Being able to hit these 3 points ensures that your color will look amazing for the next 1-2 years, have you feeling excited to do it again, and NOT leave you full of regret.

Stop scrolling — this one is GOOD.

For months it seemed like every spare moment was spent searching online, or on the road looking for the perfect location. I’m not kidding it was often exhausting, I was like a dog with a bone who wasn’t going to let up.

My heart was deep in it. At times I’d get excited, & I’d slowly & cautiously begin to unravel my ideas when I came across a location I thought could work. Then, sometimes after weeks of negotiating it was clear that I would have to say to myself “It just wasn’t meant to be”. I’m not ashamed to admit that a time or two the disappointment felt like taking a punch to the gut.

After more than a year and half — yea, that’s how long it took. Still blows my mind. We found it! My girl was there every step of the way making sure this was the PERFECT space, at the perfect location.

This is my official moving announcement, and I’m very much looking forward to making new friends in Rancho Mirage!
