- Story Time:📚
A medical journey that I don’t talk about much. There’s no cure, I’ve refused surgeries, I live with daily pain, I was denied entrance at MEPS for the Air Force after high school because I couldn’t salute and there is no medications that won’t destroy my liver, including a cancer medication called methotrexate that was monitored by monthly blood draws to ensure my liver and blood platelets wouldn’t require an infusion. I push through knowing I’m living the best life possible under the circumstances.
A Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis diagnosis at 7 was hard after having strep throat and then getting rheumatic fever and complete paralysis in my hands, legs, back and hips.
The life of hospital visits and physical therapy became my 2nd home/family. The amazing doctors at Johns Hopkins Children's Center; Dr. Edward Sills was my go to man and TO THIS day still see me as a patient (Except now he owns the practice - So I see his associates 🤣)
I was bullied, had to wear many unusual braces (One looked like a Freddy Krueger contraption to keep my fingers from closing up) and another made me sit like I was arching my back inverted (so sexy over clothing ), the countless days of missing school and the permanent paralysis left in my hands, back, hips and ankles have impacted my life significantly.
But I found a way to cope and survive the best way I knew, knowing there is no cure, knowing my body is slowly deteriorating and knowing that my body was special.
Yet, I still have defeated every odd possible.
• “I can’t do sports” I’m too fragile
- Proved them wrong
• “I can’t have full mobility”
- Proved them wrong
• “I can’t have kids”
- Proved them wrong
• “I am a candidate for long term disability”.
- Never applied
All the turned into how
I’ve done all this without having rehabilitating surgeries or being tied up with medical braces on my hands and legs long term. I’ve done this with making sure my medical advisors know exactly how I’m feeling and listened to the advice they’ve given. I’ve done this by listening to my family even when I didn’t want to face my fears of the truths of illness. I was honest with myself and knew there was a better way to live. I’ve learned about how the medications effect my body.
So here’s to another side of me you may not know! Everyone has a story! We ARE A Johns Hopkins Children’s Center !

Today we celebrate 21 years of life at exactly 2:07 AM, weighing 7lbs. 11oz. And 22" long.
From the first moment I found out I was expecting the world revolved around you, and at your arrival, a 36 hour delivery; experienced what most families don't ever imagine. Born still, not breathing, and the umbilical cord wrapped around your neck. Everyone in the room was panicking looking over at a lifeless child pouring begging to hear your cry.
Finally you let out the biggest cry in the world and the room filled with tears as we were relieved to hear your voice for the first time.
Since day one you have managed to overcome so many adversities and
not knowing what life ahead would be like, you quickly learned that it hasn't been an easy road for you at all in all these years.
The battles of multiple diagnosis', the constant reminders to succeed, and the thoughts of your family always on your mind just to name a few. Young adult life and hardships have taught you that no matter how hard we try to find successes and happiness there will always be peaks and valleys to navigate.
Today marks 21 years of hearing that amazing cry! We may have our ups and downs but I will always love you!
Love,
Mom

A person had a pet snake that she loved very much. The snake was about 7 ft long and one day it just stopped eating.
After several weeks of trying everything the lady still couldn't get the snake to eat. The woman took the snake to the vet and explained her situation.
The vet replies "I see ..has your snake been sleeping with you at night or snuggling real close and stretching himself out?"
The woman said "Yes. Everyday and it makes me so sad that I can't help him feel better."
The vet says to the lady "Ma'am your snake is not sick. It has been preparing to eat you.
He's been sizing you up everyday so he knows how big he has to be. He's not eating so he has enough room to digest you.
Moral of the Story:
Recognize the snakes around you. Everyone’s intentions aren’t pure. Just cause they seem close to you, doesn't mean their intentions aren't to devour you.
Some ppl aren’t PRAYING for you they’re PREYING on you!!
