Your cosmetology license opened the door. What specialty
will make clients remember your name?
Cosmetology school gave you the foundation. Continuing
education helps you decide how you will use it. If microlocs
are the service you want to offer with confidence, focused
training can help you strengthen the knowledge,
consultation skills, and professional habits behind the
work.
Experience is more than a number. It is a trail of lessons, decisions, people,
and responsibility.
When I looking across the moments that shaped Tunithiaās career, I see more than completed styles or professional titles. I see classmates who shared the beginning, clients who placed their trust in her hands, students who asked thoughtful questions, and lessons that required her to grow. Twenty years did not arrive all at once. It was built one day, one challenge, and one opportunity at a time. That history matters because it keeps the work grounded. What is being taught today is supported by experience that has been tested, expanded, and carried forward with intention.

Graduating Cosmetology is a big deal. So know it is time for the next part of your career when you fine tune your interest. Seattle final has someone who can guide you in the natural hair community. Join me on Mondays for Free Mentoring on Zoom. Sign up on my website. See you in class.
Guided practice is where confidence begins to take root.
Students need room to try, ask questions, receive correction, and try again. That is why hands-on education
matters.
What technique gave you the biggest learning curve? Your answer may help another
student feel less alone.
A professional consultation is where expectations meet education. It is the time to assess the hair and scalp,
understand the client's routine, discuss maintenance, and explain which options are realistic for the journey
ahead. Experience has taught me that listening is just as important as technique.

A certificate may mark completion, but responsibility is what turns
knowledge into leadership.
My education did not end when I finished cosmetology school. It expanded through years of client work, advanced learning, leadership, and the responsibility of helping other professionals grow. Serving as a texture
specialist, beauty-school educator, director of education, and cosmetology instructor taught me that expertise must stay active. You keep studying. You keep listening. You keep refining what you know so the people who trust you receive more than memorized steps. Twenty years of experience means very little if it is not used with care, integrity, and a willingness to keep learning.
Tag an educator or mentor whose guidance still shows up in the way you work today.

Knowing one method is useful. Understanding hair beyond the method is
what protects the client.
Loc education should never be separated from a strong understanding of hair. Density, texture, elasticity, scalp condition, sectioning, tension, and daily care all influence the choices a professional makes. My cosmetology foundation taught me to see the whole picture, not just the final style. That broader knowledge has shaped twenty years of working, teaching, and continuing to refine my approach. The goal is not to perform a technique simply because it is popular. The goal is to make informed decisions that respect the person, the hair, and the long-term health of the loc journey.
Would you rather learn only the steps or understand the reason behind every step? Tell me why.
A skilled professional can demonstrate the technique. A seasoned educator
teaches you how to think through it.
Teaching is not simply standing in front of a room and repeating instructions. It means noticing what a student is missing, explaining a concept more than one way, connecting technique to real client situations, and creating space for questions without embarrassment. My own classmates and early milestones remind me that every confident educator once needed guidance too. That memory keeps me patient and honest in the way I teach.
After twenty years in cosmetology, one of the greatest privileges is helping someone else build understanding they can carry into their own professional journey.
