So what is actually happening in the follicle with electrolysis? 👀

That tiny probe is doing some very intentional work.

The probe is inserted into the hair follicle, and energy is delivered through the probe to target the hair’s growth center at the root, the papilla. Once the follicle has been properly treated, the hair can be removed.

The biggest difference with electrolysis is that WE ARE KILLING THE CONNECTION TO THE BLOOD SUPPLY. Which feeds the hair in the follicle to continue to grow. .

A license and/or certificate doesn’t automatically mean someone is GOOD at electrolysis. 👀

Here are 4 things I would watch closely when vetting an electrologist:

1. THE INSERTION
The probe should follow the natural path of the hair through the follicular opening, not be repeatedly digging, or forcing its way into the follicle.

2. THE RELEASE
When the follicle is properly treated, the hair should generally release without excessive pulling or traction.

3. THE SKIN RESPONSE
Some redness, swelling, tenderness, and even pinpoint scabbing can be normal after electrolysis. What matters is the degree, duration, and healing.

Look for a response that is appropriate for the treatment, not excessive blistering, burning, prolonged inflammation, or significant tissue damage.

4. THE WHY
A skilled electrologist should be able to explain why they chose a particular modality, timing, intensity, and approach for your follicles, not just say, “That’s how I was taught.”

The title on the wall is not the whole story. The technique is.
