Murphy has life all figured out—snuggled up with his teddy bear, mama pup, and favorite bone. He reminds me how important it is to be content and create margin in my life.
One way I do that? A simple Sunday night brain dump. I take everything swirling in my head (which can be scary) and put it on paper. Then I create 3 columns….
✔️ Do it
✔️ Delegate it
✔️ Dump it
It’s amazing how much lighter I feel when I clear the mental clutter. Just like Murphy, you can rest easier knowing what really matters has space to shine.
Here’s to more margin, more peace, and more contentment in the little things. 🐾💛
What’s one way you give yourself margin each week?
Yes!!!

I love this quote by John wooden! It reminded me that when I spend my energy worrying about circumstances outside my control—like the economy, changes my company makes, other people’s opinions, or unexpected setbacks—I drain myself of the focus and strength I need to make progress. This quote came through at the perfect moment.
Freedom and effectiveness come when I shift my attention to what is within my power: the thoughts I have, the words I speak and the actions I choose to take Daily.
By doing so, I move from a posture of anxiety and fear to one of action. Instead of spinning MY wheels in frustration, I start planting seeds of change where growth is possible.
MY peace comes from releasing what I cannot change, and progress comes from faithfully working on what I can and giving the rest to Him.
I don’t know about you, but the next 98 days are going to fly by! I put together a quick list to save our sanity.
6 Smart Ways to Get Holiday-Ready Now
1. Create a Master Calendar
Map out September–December: family gatherings, school events, office parties, shopping deadlines. Seeing everything in one place prevents double-booking and last-minute panic. Allow your spouse and kids to be involved in this.
2. Set a Holiday Budget
Decide now what you’ll spend on gifts, décor, travel, and food. A clear budget curbs impulse buys and post-holiday credit-card shock. One idea - use one credit card for all of Christmas so you can keep track easier.
3. List & Pre-Shop Gifts
Start a running gift list in your phone or planner. Pick up items as you spot sales this fall—less December chaos, more thoughtful choices. This is called Smart shopping and always consider using small business owners and boutiques.
4. Stock Your “Hospitality Pantry”
Keep shelf-stable snacks, drink mixers, and a couple of quick-cook meals on hand. Unexpected guests? You’re ready. I typically have enchiladas and lasagna in my freezer during the holidays.
5. Schedule Self-Care
Book hair, nail, or spa appointments early. Add weekly “quiet time” to recharge—your energy is the best gift you bring to any gathering. You could surprise your spouse with a self-care appointment. She will love it.
6. Plan Moments of Meaning
Whether it’s a family service project, handwritten cards, or a gratitude jar, set aside traditions that keep the holidays heart-centered.
Start small. Even choosing just two of these now can dramatically lower holiday stress and help you enjoy the season when it arrives.
I hope this blesses you. Which ones do you think you will implement?
