Since the hand soap recall, a lot of you have asked me at the market how bar soap stays fresh. Here's the short answer.

Our bars start with goat milk instead of water.

Then they sit on the curing rack for 6 to 8 weeks while that water slowly evaporates. What's left is a hard, dry bar, which is why it doesn't need an added preservative the way liquid soap does.

And because I make every batch by hand, right here in our studio, I can tell you exactly what's in each one. Ollie supervises, of course.

Curious about an ingredient, or which bar is right for you? Comment below, send me a message, or come say hi at the market.

Odd photo, I know. But this is the newest tool in the Ollie Skincare workshop.

Our old immersion blender gave out after four years of soap and lotion making. It had a good run.

So I upgraded to a professional immersion blender. It blends faster and more evenly, which especially helps with lotion, where getting the oils and water fully mixed makes all the difference.

Same small batches and the same ingredients you know. Just a sturdier tool behind them.

Thanks for supporting a local maker. If you have questions about how our soap or lotion is made, drop them in the comments. I love talking shop.

In September, the FDA announced a voluntary recall of six liquid and foaming hand soaps because of possible bacteria contamination.

Most of them went to wholesalers, not store shelves. That means a lot ended up in public restrooms and breakrooms, where you'd never see the label.

I put the full list of recalled products in a new blog post, along with what to do if you find one. Take a quick look, and pass it along to whoever stocks the soap at work.

No blame here. The company pulled the products on its own, and that's exactly what should happen when something's wrong.

It's also a good reminder of why I do things the way I do. I make every bar of Ollie goat milk soap by hand, in small batches, and I can tell you exactly what's in each one.

Have a question about an ingredient? Comment below, send me a message, or ask me at the market.

Quick peek behind the scenes at Ollie Skincare this morning.

It's wrapping day, which means every bar that's finished curing gets cut, checked, and sealed by hand right here on the bench.

And of course Ollie, our brand ambassador, clocked in to supervise. He takes quality control very seriously, mostly from the floor, mostly with that exact look on his face.

Every bar you pick up from us has been through this process (and probably past Ollie's nose once or twice).

If there's a bar you've been waiting on, comment or send us a message and we'll set one aside for you before the next market.

Made in small batches, wrapped by hand, approved by Ollie.

Goat milk, meet Wisconsin b**r. Say hello to Tipsy Goat soap.

It's our goat milk soap made with local Wisconsin b**r, and it's officially live.

The b**r is where all those bubbles in the photo come from. The goat milk keeps it gentle, so it works for face and body.

I made it for the people who come home from the garden, the deer stand, or a long market day needing a real wash.

It also makes a pretty great stocking stuffer for the b**r lover in your life. Just saying.

So tell me: which Wisconsin brew should we try in the next batch? Drop your pick in the comments and I'll share the favorites.

$8 a bar. Find it on the website now, or grab one at our booth at the next market.

Small-batch skincare maker here with our fall market lineup.

You'll still find us at our favorite farmers markets, but we're sprinkling in a few fall pop-ups too. Swipe through for dates, times, and locations.

This weekend: Sunday, Sept 27: Slinger Farmers Market, 9am to noon, then the Sweater Weather Pop Up at Beneath The Pines Candle Co. in Hartford, 10am to 3pm

Next weekend: Saturday, Oct 3: West Bend Farmers Market, 7:30 to 11am Sunday, Oct 4: Re:Craft and Relic at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 10am to 4pm, and the Farm Open House at Schmidt Century Farm, 10am to 2pm

Next weekend is also when our fall soap scents come out: Pumpkin, Pistachio, and something else (I can't remember).

These are small batches, and our fall scents usually sell out. If fall scents are your thing, come find us early.

They aren't on the website yet (I'm a little behind), so the markets are the only place to get them for now.

Hope to see you out there.
