One of my favorite parts of every assessment is when clients get to see their scalp for the first time.

Every appointment begins with a conversation. We review your intake form, discuss your concerns and goals, and then use digital scalp imaging to take a closer look together.

Seeing the scalp up close often helps clients better understand what they’re seeing.

Is it normal to lose hair every day?

Yes.

In fact, losing around 50–100 hairs per day is considered normal for most people.

So when should you pay closer attention?

• Hair seems to be shedding for several weeks or longer
• Itching, tenderness, flaking, or other scalp changes accompany the shedding

Hair shedding can happen for many reasons—including stress, illness, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, certain medications, genetics, and scalp conditions.

The good news is that not all hair loss is permanent, and not all thinning has the same cause. Understanding why it's happening is the first step toward choosing the most appropriate next step.
