Update on Claire💛

First off, Claire has been doing so well since all of her family were able to come home for a few days!

On June 24, they were finally able to bring her home after her third spinal tap. When Claire’s mom and dad stopped to think about it, they realized they only had a total of four days together at home as a family, during the entire month of June. Jessica says “It’s hard to believe how much life has changed in such a short time.”

On June 30th, Claire had surgery to have her port placed, another spinal tap ( #4), and her throat evaluated by the ENT team.

The port placement went smoothly! During the procedure, the ENT discovered scar tissue near her vocal cords from being on the ventilator. They made two small incisions, used a balloon to open the area, and injected steroids. Since coming off the ventilator, Claire has only been able to speak above a whisper, so we’re praying this procedure helps her find her voice again.

They also received her bone marrow test results. Claire has been classified as “high-risk favorable.” While she is still considered high risk, this result gives her a better chance of responding well to treatment, and her family is incredibly thankful for that encouraging news.

Right now, Claire is still very weak. She’s having some difficulty walking and gets tired easily, but little by little she’s improving. Her appetite is returning, she wants to play and stay on the move, and Jessica says she is so thankful to see her sweet sense of humor shining through again.

This week also began chemotherapy at home. They will continue making weekly trips back for testing and treatments as we take this journey one day at a time.

Your appointments are so much more than hair. It’s not about me. It’s about selfless love, and support to a family during one of the hardest seasons of their lives.

I pray healing. I speak Jesus over Claire. Do what only You can do Lord. Restore her body, her spirit, give her strength that’s unexplainable! What you said on the mountain, is still true in the valley!
