Skincare hot takes worth mentioning:
• You do not need to pay a lot for a good retinol, but it should become a staple once you hit your mid-20's. There's a broad range including adapelene, retinol, retinal, retinaldehyde, Accutane and the alternative bakuchiol.
• Mineral sunscreen is better than chemical sunscreen. Sunscreen is your best defense against aging AND acne.
• Double cleansing is top tier.
• Fragrance does not belong in skincare products.
• Alcohol denat in your products is not a bad thing. It acts as a preservative.
• Organic skincare WILL expire and mold.
• Walk-in dermaplane treatments that do not include a cleansing and finishing products is gross and unsanitary.
• Hydrofacial treatments are only beneficial if your service provider is using the patented 30k$ Hydrafacial machine.
• For Vitamin C to be beneficial, you will have to pay around $50 for a bottle of it. It is very hard to stabilize the molecules correctly.
• Primer containing silicone is breaking you out.
• Stress raises your cortisol levels causing you to have hormonal acne. There are a wide range of hormones that will contribute to acne and it can be very hard to pinpoint the trigger.
• Soy based vegan foods will give you acne.
• We ask you not to pop your pimples because some acne actually contains Staph.
• Cystic acne containing clear fluid is an inflammatory response. The clear fluid is actually white blood cells there to heal the inflammation and acne.
• Beauty blenders contain mold and will break you out.
• It is up in the air if rosacea is caused by overactive skin mites or an internal reaction to triggers. The answer to all forms of rosacea is gentle products and mineral sunscreen.
• Your skin has a microbiome and you cannot exfoliate or dry out the acne.
• Those aren't blackheads on your nose, they're sebaceous filaments and a natural part of your anatomy.
• Pores are slanted. Wash in circular motions.
• Glycolic acid should be used very sparingly and only occasionally on the face. But it is great for all over body use if you struggle with odors, ingrown hairs, or keratosis pilaris.
• Melanated skin should not be treated the same as light skin tones.
• Sephora skincare is overpriced and usually not beneficial.
• The derm should not be sending you home with 3 new prescriptions after your first visit.
• Most red light devices on Amazon do nothing.
