It is a hot tea kind of morning

It’s been a crazy week. My office was closed Monday for New Year’s Day, I took a sick day Tuesday and stayed on my heating pads and ate muscle relaxers like candy. It has been particularly busy at work yesterday and so far today. I can’t wait until Saturday. To be able to listen to my body again. So glad it is already “little Friday”

Spent the first day of 2024 being kind to myself. The last couple months have been busy, and while mostly joyous activities, still very draining. Ready to see what awaits in the next 365 days. Enjoying some hot tea, crocheting and downtime.

Came home to a little stinker. Literally. He had just come back inside from a wander around the back yard and had found something …… not sure what, don’t really want to know. Ha. He got scooped up and whisked away to a bath. He now hates me. Haha. But he doesn’t stink anymore. 😃

Spent the last couple of days of this year one on one with my main squeeze. We walked the boardwalk a few blocks up from our hotel yesterday to the little dive restaurant on the fishing pier. Had some yummy food, played with an adoptable pittie name pokey - so stinking cute. Listened to the waves from our balcony, I drank loads of hot tea and crocheted. We are home now. I stopped on my way home and got some more vibrant yarn as I don’t want to run out of all my bright colors before I get my afghan to the size I want. Now to toss a load of laundry in the washer and get unpacked. Happy last day of 2023, friends.

Moonlight on the water. Gorgeous.

Hubby’s watching football, I’m listening to the ocean waves crashing and crocheting. I allowed myself to enjoy dessert while on our weekend. So, while I don’t necessarily makes New Year’s resolutions per se, I will be getting more strict with my dietary modifications - namely cutting out added sugars and pastries. But I think if we 100% deprive ourselves of a type of food (other than for allergies etc) it only makes us want it that much more. In those situations (at least for me) when I do “cave” I over indulge and then hate myself for it. I’ve been really able to say no to sugar surprisingly well. I had a piece of cheesecake on Christmas and then I had dessert tonight. Other than that, I really haven’t had cookies / cake / candy for over a month.

It’s been a rainy dreary week this week where I live in Virginia. This morning was so foggy that the moon was kind of glowing. I got a picture but it doesn’t truly show how pretty it is.

My girl “helping” me crochet.

Went this morning and had pictures of my brain taken (brain MRI) and then took my momma to breakfast. Then we stopped by the pet store because the pups needed some new treatos for Christmas (Santa paws told me what kind to get). While we were there, we got some new fishy friends for our aquarium. My mom loves guppies and they had some today so we got 3 little ones and a really pretty catfish - he likes to hang out on the bottom so he isn’t in the pictures). I’ve got a really bad migraine brewing so I’m going to work on some crochet right now and let the b/c powder hopefully stop it soon. If not I will move on to the rx meds. Got a few presents to wrap tonight and / or tomorrow. Thankful for the little baby who left His home in Glory all those years ago to come to earth as a humble baby to give us eternal hope. Merry Christmas eve’s eve friends.
