When I have a new client tell me my Facial Treatment was the best they’ve ever experienced it’s hard not to smile from ear to ear.

I graduated Esthetics School in 2001 and ready to delve into my career at 19. I’ve met many incredible Estheticians in my career but one holds a special place in my heart. Traude Von Hovey, Austrian born, Senior Esthetician at a Spa I worked at in Wilton. Traude taught me so much not just about Esthetics but about life. She was funny, beautiful, opinionated, tough, and extremely particular about how to give a really great facial. We met & clicked immediately. She nicknamed me “Google” because anytime we got a new product in I was googling the ingredients & its benefits.
During our time working together she became ill. She had a loyal clientele that traveled all over the state to see her. She was unable to do her treatments on them. She picked one Esthetician on the team to train to learn “her facial” technique. She picked ME to take care of her people because she no longer could.😢 I cried, I didn’t feel I could ever come close to what she could do. But she was like “Suck it up, you’re going to learn this & you are going to be great!” Even though she was not feeling well she made once a week visits to the spa. We went through a few sessions together of her coaching (and critiquing me) until one day she said “You’re ready. That was perfect.” The highest compliment from someone I looked up to so much.
We were all devastated when she passed in ‘06. She was not just an amazing esthetician she was an amazing human being. I miss her to this day & every time I do a facial massage or apply one of the techniques she taught me I still feel her spirit with me all these years later. Thank you Traude for being my mentor & for being my friend. 🤍🪽

Amour de Visage Skincare Tip! Hey Baby Face 👋 I love buying packs of pure muslin baby burp cloths for home use to dry the face. Always pat your face dry…no rubbing! They are extremely gentle (especially for my sensitive or acne prone friends) and do not have any excess texture to irritate the skin. Pack of 6 allows you to change them out almost every evening. My late mentor Traude Von Hovey (a brilliant Austrian esthetician I was inspired by in my 20s) gave me this tip and I’ve continued to pass it on. Pic of one of my sweet babies for attention. 💕
