AZELAIC ACID 101 + PHA 101 🧪✨
AKA: skincare ingredients you should probably know about.

If you’ve ever looked at the back of a skincare bottle and thought, cool… but what does any of this actually DO? — this one’s for you.

Let’s talk about two of the reasons I love ANFISA An-Dew: Azelaic Acid + PHAs.

First up: Azelaic Acid 101

Azelaic acid is one of those ingredients that somehow manages to do a little bit of everything without coming in and choosing violence.

It can help:
• calm visible redness and inflammation
• improve the look of post-breakout marks and uneven tone
• keep pores clearer
• support acne-prone skin
• brighten dull, uneven skin

And one of my favorite things about it? It’s generally well tolerated by sensitive and redness-prone skin.

Basically, azelaic acid is the friend who shows up, handles the problem, and somehow doesn’t create three new problems in the process.

Now, PHA 101.

PHA stands for polyhydroxy acid.

Think of PHAs as the gentler cousin of AHAs. They help loosen and remove dead skin cells sitting on the surface so skin looks smoother, brighter and more even — BUT their larger molecular size means they don’t pe*****te as deeply as some other exfoliating acids.

Translation: exfoliation without going scorched-earth on your skin barrier.

PHAs are especially great when you want smoother, glowier skin but your skin tends to be sensitive, dry or easily irritated.

So when you put Azelaic Acid + PHAs together?

You get gentle exfoliation + brighter-looking skin + support for redness, congestion and uneven tone… without feeling like your face needs to file a formal complaint.

That’s why An-Dew has become such a good option for the client who wants results but whose skin says, “please don’t get crazy.”

Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated. You just need to know what your ingredients are actually doing — and whether they make sense for your skin.

Hi, I’m Amanda. 🤍 Welcome to my little corner of the internet.

If you’re new here, I’m so happy you found me.

I’m a licensed Master Esthetician in Washington, an Advanced Esthetician in Oregon, and the owner of Viva Aesthetics in Ridgefield, WA, where I specialize in corrective skincare and laser hair removal.

When I opened Viva, my goal wasn’t just to create beautiful skin—it was to create a space where every person who walked through the door felt comfortable, accepted, and like they truly belonged. I want you to leave feeling more confident than when you arrived.

Outside of the treatment room, I’m a mom of five (three girls and identical twin boys), married to the person who keeps me grounded and balances me in all the best ways.

A few random facts about me:
🦈 I’m completely obsessed with sharks and anything ocean-related.
🌮 Mexican food is my love language.
🌶️ There’s a good chance I have a bottle of Tajín in my purse.
👻 Halloween will forever be my favorite holiday.
