📌FAQ: Will my hair revert back to its natural curly texture if I flat iron my hair??
________________________________
Stylist response: M A Y B E/ M A Y B E N O T Its trial and error! Seriously, we say this because that’s the actual truth.🤷🏽‍♀️ First, let me explain why. Direct heat from a thermal tool can alter any texture of curly hair. No one can truthfully say “No the heat won’t alter the texture and cause heat damage.”🙅🏾‍♀️ You just don’t know because heat can break down the bonds in your hair to a point of no return. It can be tricky! So depending on the current status of your hair, for example, your porosity(how much moisture your hair is able to absorb and retain) can play a major factor in this situation.

Furthermore, there are 5 precautions steps that should always take place when applying any form of heat.

1. For the best results, always use the correct professional products for your type hair. Shampoo, conditioner, styling products, etc. Ask your stylist what’s best for your hair type!

2. After you shampoo, condition, and towel dry, always use a wet styling product(for your texture) to smooth and control frizz; seal and protect the hair shaft.

3. BLOWDRYING!! OMG!😯 MAJOR 🔑 The straighter you get the hair with the blow-dyer the less strokes and heat from your thermal tool. A blow dry balm is always good to use prior to blow drying.

4. Thermal protective spray- A MUST HAVE!! I mean like really, before the iron hits the hair, there must be another protective barrier to protect the hair. THERMAL SPAY!

5. Lastly, after thermal style, seal with a light serum to protect, smooth, and add shine. NOTE: A dime size portion can be used when hair is wet and dry for best results.

At the end of the day, it’s all about how you do it and what you are using to try to help prevent as less heat damage as possible. If any at all!😉

Single Strand Knots “SSK” are small knots that form along the hair strand, especially in curly and coily hair. When a strand grows from the follicle, it can loop and tie around itself or other strands. ***************************************** How to get rid of them: Immerse them in oil to get them to unravel by themselves or apply a generous amount of conditioner to the knot and gently massage it between your fingers. ***************************************** How to prevent: 1. Trim regularly 2. Keep hair healthy 3. Detangle often 4. Stretch and protect
