After 24 years as a hairstylist, I can tell you one thing for certain… I’m seeing more and more women with thinning hair around their temples and hairlines.

And while hormones, genetics, stress, and other health factors can absolutely play a role, there’s something else we need to talk about.

That super-tight, slicked-back bun that’s so popular right now? 👀

Those tight ponytails you wear every single day?

Heavy extensions or braids that pull on your scalp?

They might look cute, but repeated tension can lead to something called TRACTION ALOPECIA.

That’s hair loss caused by constantly pulling on the hair follicles. And here’s the scary part…

⚠️ If it continues long enough, that hair loss can become PERMANENT.

And don’t think I’m letting bleach and flat irons off the hook either! 😂 Excessive chemical processing and heat can cause serious breakage and damage to the hair itself.

💕 A FEW TIPS FROM YOUR HAIRSTYLIST:

✂️ Loosen those ponytails and buns!

✂️ Switch up your hairstyles instead of pulling your hair in the same direction every day.

✂️ If your hairstyle hurts, IT’S TOO TIGHT!

✂️ Give your hair a break from excessive heat.

✂️ Pay attention to thinning around your temples and hairline.

Remember, healthy hair starts with healthy habits!

And just because a hairstyle is TRENDING doesn’t mean it’s healthy for your hair. 😉
