The Klip Joint

🍉❤️ WHAT. A. DAY. ❤️🍉

Our 5th Annual Watermelon Eating Contest was an absolute HIT!! We had just under 70 kiddos come out and compete, laugh, make a mess, eat a ridiculous amount of watermelon 😂 and just have a GOOD TIME.

And you know me… I couldn't turn these kids away. Some of those rounds got a little bigger than planned, but somehow we made it happen — and came down to our LAST WATERMELON! 🍉🙌

We had 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners with prizes including FREE HAIRCUTS, tinsel & feathers — and nobody walked away a loser. ❤️ We had watermelon, candy and Ring Pops for the kiddos because every kid who stepped up deserved a little something.

And let me tell you… the kids might've been excited about those free haircuts, but the PARENTS were REALLY excited. 😂🙌 In this economy, we know a free haircut can mean a little more than people realize.

I was a little nervous when our contest location got moved this year because we've always done it right in front of The Klip Joint. But you know what? It ended up being PERFECT. Tons of room, beautiful shade, and plenty of space for all those kids and families. Sometimes change works out exactly how it's supposed to. ❤️

And of course I couldn't do any of this without my people. Shana — my ride or die — hauling s**t, setting s**t up, tearing it down and right there beside me like ALWAYS. 😂❤️ Kathy came out from the shop and jumped in to help, my mom was there, my kids were there… it really takes a village.

Five years of doing this contest, and seeing all those smiling, sticky watermelon faces is STILL what makes it worth every bit of work. 🍉

Thank you to every family who came out, every kid who competed, and everyone who helped make this year such a success.

The Klip Joint loves showing up for our community. ❤️✂️
And we'll see y'all next year for YEAR SIX!! 🍉🏆
