A little Empowered Health update from behind the scenes đŠşâ¨
I promiseâweâre still here, and weâve been BUSY.
Weâre building out our patient portal, updating questionnaires and consents, and putting better systems in place so your experience with Empowered Health is easier, smoother, and more streamlined from start to finish.
And to my current patients who have been here through the growing pains⌠yâall are the REAL ONES. đđ¤ Thank you for your patience, grace, referrals, messages, and continued support while I build the kind of practice I believe New Mexico deserves.
Weâre getting our s**t together over here. đ And healthcare at Empowered has been pretty damn goodâbut itâs about to get even better.

Come grow with us. Iâm SO excited for whatâs next.
Thermography is NOT a replacement for mammographyâand I want to be very clear about that.
Current evidence supports mammography as our primary breast-cancer screening tool for most women, and thermography has not been shown to reliably detect breast cancer as a stand-alone screening test.
But hereâs where I think we, as clinicians, have an obligation to our patients:
Some women are hesitant about mammography. Some are concerned about radiation or compression. Some simply will not have one done.
My job isnât to shame that patient or tell her, âWell, then youâre on your own.â
My job is to educate her.
We talk about her age, family history, breast density, genetics and individual risk. We talk about what mammography can detect, its benefits and limitations, and what additional diagnostic imagingâsuch as ultrasound or MRI or thermographyâmay be appropriate depending on her circumstances.
Iâm going to explain ALL of them.
Thermography uses infrared imaging to detect patterns of heat and blood flow at the surface of the breast. Thereâs no radiation and no compression. But it also cannot rule out breast cancer and should not be relied upon as a replacement for recommended breast imaging.
Then SHE gets to participate in the decision.
Because informed consent isnât just telling patients what we recommend.
Itâs making sure they understand the benefits, limitations and alternatives well enough to make an informed decision about their own body.
And sometimes harm reduction means meeting a patient where she actually is. đ¤

âThis might be a stupid questionâŚâ
First of all â there are no stupid questions when it comes to your medications. And honestly? I get this one ALL the time.
đ MounjaroÂŽ vs. ZepboundÂŽ â whatâs the difference?
Both contain the active ingredient tirzepatide.
Same active ingredient. Different FDA-approved
indications.
MounjaroÂŽ âĄď¸ Type 2 diabetes
ZepboundÂŽ âĄď¸ Chronic weight management (and certain patients with obstructive sleep apnea)
Then we have compounded tirzepatide â and this is where things get a little more nuanced. Compounded medication is not an FDA-approved generic of Mounjaro or Zepbound, and compounding is subject to specific federal and state requirements. Depending on the individual prescription and pharmacy, compounded formulations may also contain additional ingredients such as certain B vitamins or amino acids.
Translation: tirzepatide is the molecule everybody is talking about â but the product, indication, formulation, and regulatory status matter.
And THAT is exactly why Iâd rather you ask the âstupid questionâ than spend three hours trying to decipher GLP-1 TikTok. đ
Questions about GLP-1s? Drop them below. I guarantee someone else is wondering the same thing.
CPAP âĄď¸ BiPAP⌠and yes, the satin cap is part of the sleep setup. đ
If Iâm going to wear PAP every night, Iâm also going to protect the new baby hairs I haveđđťââď¸
Iâve worked in Sleep Medicine as a Nurse Practitioner for 4½ years, AND Iâm a PAP user myself. I used CPAP for about a year before transitioning to BiPAP â and for me, the difference has been significant.
So if youâve ever wondered:
⨠Whatâs actually different about CPAP vs. BiPAP?
⨠Why would someone switch?
⨠What does BiPAP feel like compared with CPAP?
⨠Or how the heck do you protect your hair while wearing all this equipment every night?
Ask me in the comments. đđź
Sleep medicine is literally my specialty â and apparently satin bonnets are now part of my clinical expertise. đđ´
This post represents so much more than opening a waitlist.
It represents a promise.
A promise that when you become part of the Empowered Health family, youâll be cared for as a whole personânot just another appointment on the schedule.
Iâve dreamed of creating a practice where patients feel heard, where appointments arenât rushed, where your provider actually knows your story, and where healthcare feels like a partnership instead of a transaction.
Whether youâre managing a chronic condition, looking for preventive care, navigating hormone health, weight loss, sleep concerns, or simply searching for a provider who truly listens⌠I would be incredibly honored to be part of your healthcare journey.
đ Our Primary Care Waitlist is officially OPEN!
⨠We are limiting enrollment to 300 primary care patients so every patient receives the time, attention, and personalized care they deserve.
Insurance contracting is currently underway with major insurance plans.
To join the waitlist:
đŠ Send us a direct message with your insurance provider. Weâll add you to the list and notify you as soon as weâre in-network with your plan.
Thank you for believing in this dream before itâs even fully built. Your trust means more to me than youâll ever know.
This isnât just another clinic.
This is healthcare done differently.
Wellness isnât always a supplement.
Sometimes itâs seven bags of apricots from a friendâs tree and spending a night learning how to make jam for the first time.
It wasnât difficult. It was just slow.
And maybe thatâs exactly why my soul needed it.
In a world that tells us to move faster, buy convenience, and stay productive, thereâs something healing about making food with your own hands.
Today reminded me that health isnât just what we eat.
Itâs how we live.
About 70 days.
70 days until we open our doors, and honestly... I donât have the words for how grateful I am.
To every person whoâs followed along, shared a post, offered encouragement, challenged my thinking, given feedback, or simply believed in this dream before it even had wallsâthank you.
This clinic was never built around me having all the answers. In fact, one of the biggest lessons in this journey has been staying open to learning, listening, and improving. Your feedback matters. Your ideas matter. This community matters.
My vision is simple: better access to healthcare that focuses on prevention, education, wellness, and helping people stay healthyânot just managing disease after it happens.
Donât get me wrongâthere is absolutely a time and place for Western medicine. It saves lives every single day. But if we want a healthier future for our children, our families, and our communities, we have to start investing more energy into prevention, early intervention, and empowering people to take control of their health.
This is my love letter to New Mexico.
To local businesses. To hardworking families. To the people who have felt unheard. To the patients who deserve time, attention, and someone willing to listen.
Weâre building something special, and weâre almost there.
If you believe healthcare can be better, please help us spread the word. Share this post. Tell a friend. Support local.
The countdown is on. â¤ď¸
The hugs. The hallway hellos. The grocery store thank-yous.
Those moments mean more than youâll ever know.
This is why I do what I do. â¤ď¸
Had my first pop-up wellness event in my little clinic space this week đ¤
