Memes Lab I learned about how products were formulated, as well as how the industry worked. Also, makeup is tooooo much drama for this mama.
This company was founded in 2007 after I learned that there were little to no regulations on the personal care market in the US, and as a result, many of the products I was using on my incredibly sensitive skin were full of ingredients that ranged from downright frightening (asbestos in talc) to a danger to skin health (formaldehyde releasers cause dermatitis, SLS and other harsh surfactants can s
trip the skin of needed moisturizing factors, which exacerbates eczema, etc} I did what all scientists do best--research. I originally created a line of products for my personal use, which is now my New 20 line of anti-aging products, but I digress. I moved to Seattle in 2009, and began building a clientele by making custom products for them. I eventually found a small space in Capitol Hill, above Retail Therapy, owned by the most kick-ass, amazing woman I've ever known, Wazhma Samizay. She gave me my start in Seattle, and I loved my little upstairs space so much. I began working with the performer community, creating a full line of safe but still really good stage makeup for drag, burlesque, theater, and musical performers. Business was great, and soon I got to move into a bigger space in Capitol Hill (those are the photos on this page). That store was so beautiful, I am lucky to have had the opportunity to create such a fun place. Once the tech bro invasion started happening, it was time to get out of the now very violent Capitol Hill area, so I packed up all the rhinestones and headed to New Mexico. Now, instead of having a retail space, I have a shipping and production facility in Rio Rancho, NM. Along the way, my focus has moved away from cosmetics and into skincare. I feel that I can do more to help people with my big brain in the realm of skincare. Anyway, I offer a full line of products for all skin types. I also believe very strongly in educating all of you in good skincare practices, so that you can make good choices in products for your skin. This page is chock full of rants, information, tips, memes, and swear words, all to help you understand more about your skin and how to take care of it., without being super pushy or sales pitch-y. I try to be your Skincare Mom, in that I will watch out for your skin, and will also scold you for doing dumb sh*t. ;) I'm always happy to read labels for you to help you find the right products for your skin, even if those products aren't mine. I won't bullsh*t you about skincare, I will tell you the hard truth, lol. Stop by, browse a bit, learn some stuff! Also, Pjork the pig is an added bonus! Dr. Jennifer Dietrich received her B.A. in Pathogenic Microbiology (University of Kansas, 1999) and her Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Biophysics (University of Kansas, 2004) with a focus on the cellular mechanisms of aging, including Alzheimer’s diagnostic technique. She did a postdoctoral appointment at Los Alamos National Lab in single molecule spectroscopy from 2005-2006, then took a position at a biotech firm in DC, followed by a stint in Intellectual Property Law at a law firm in Rockville, MD. She decided that she enjoyed having her soul attached to her body too much to become a patent lawyer, and then moved to Seattle.
