Emily Nolan - The Curl Collective
We help you become curl confident both in the salon and between appointments.
Come for my cackle alone đ
From shampooing curls at the salon to scrubbing a horse in the backyard⌠life is weird and beautiful and I kind of love it.
1. Style on soaking wet hair â if itâs starting to dry, I re-wet it. Frizz loves half-dry hair.
2. Use enough product â most people arenât using too much⌠theyâre using too little.
3. Smooth first, then scrunch â frizz comes from rough application. Gentle hands make a difference.
4. Donât touch while drying â the more you mess with it, the bigger it gets. Every time.
5. Break the cast after itâs 100% dry â patience = softer curls and way less halo frizz.
A client told me today, âI felt so cared for.â
And if Iâm being honest, that meant more to me than hearing she loved her hair.
Because I know what so many women are carrying when they sit in my chair.
The mental load.
The never-ending to-do list.
The pressure to take care of everyone else before themselves.
Sometimes they come in thinking they need help with their curls, but what they really need is a place to exhale.
A few hours where someone else has the plan.
Someone else has the answers.
Someone else is taking care of them.
The curls are important, but helping women leave feeling confident, seen, and cared for?
Thatâs always been the real goal.
And if youâre the kind of woman who feels like youâre constantly pouring into everyone else, just knowâyou deserve that kind of care too. đ¤

Wearing your natural hair isnât âletting yourself go.â Itâs confidence. Itâs freedom. Itâs choosing to stop fighting the texture you were born with.
Drop a đ¤ if youâre learning to love your hair this season.
One of my favorite parts of a curly hair appointment is watching the lightbulb moment happen. â¨
Because this isnât just about leaving with pretty hair for one day â itâs about learning how to care for your curls at home with confidence.
The products, the techniques, the âwhyâ behind everything⌠it all matters. And honestly? Most curly girls were never taught any of this growing up.
So yes, we style curls hereâŚBut we also unlearn frustration, confusion, and years of fighting your natural texture. đ¤

Updated review: Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Gel
Overall, Iâm giving this gel a 7/10. I personally tend to prefer a stronger hold gel for my waves because I like being able to go at least 3 days without refreshing. As a busy mom and salon owner, time is not exactly on my side right now. đ
By the end of day 2, I had a bit more of a halo of frizz than I normally do, but to be fair, I really put the âclimate controlâ claim to the test with the humidity we had last week!
Final thoughts: if you donât mind washing more frequently, enjoy a softer finish, and are okay spending a few extra minutes refreshing, I think youâll really enjoy this product!
Follow along and lmk what I should try next!
Welcome to the first episode of Wash Day Diaries đđŤ§
Iâm trying a new curly product for a few wash days and giving you a real-life review. No non-sense or fluff, but how it actually works for a busy mom if 3 and salon owner.
First up: Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Gel. And honestly⌠with the amount of rain and humidity weâve had lately in North Texas, this felt like the perfect time to test it.
A few things to love about this gel:
⢠lightweight hold
⢠crunch-free finish
⢠helps fight frizz even in heat + humidity
My hot take for today: I got a light cast, I do like the softer finish, but Iâm skeptical if it will give my waves enough hold to last to my next wash day.
Iâm going to keep testing it over the next few days, so check back in!
If you want to try it too, I found it on sale! Comment âDIARYâ and Iâll send you the link.
