🩵Today’s class with was next level —so unconventional, so out of the box, and honestly… everyone LOVED it.

We dove deep into consultations and how they are the backbone of successful color correction. Not just a quick “what do you want?” conversation—but a full breakdown of hair history, lifestyle, expectations, and the real plan it takes to get there.

Because color correction isn’t just about fixing color.
It’s about:
• Growing out natural color
• Understanding what’s underneath the surface
• And uncovering those “hidden secrets”… like at-home henna

And yes—we went there.

We talked about henna and the truth behind it:
• Henna creates a coating on the hair shaft rather than lifting like traditional color
• It reacts unpredictably with lightener—often turning green, muddy, or overly warm
• It bonds tightly to the hair, making removal extremely challenging
• “Natural” doesn’t always mean “easy to work with” in the salon world

Then we did what we do best… we experimented.

We worked on removing henna and watched, in real time, how the hair reacted—unexpected tones, resistance, and all. No guessing. Just raw, real results.

And the kicker?

It’s science… and vodka. 🧪🍸

Breaking down buildup, understanding the chemistry, and using unconventional methods to see what actually happens behind the chair.

This is what education should feel like—real, hands-on, a little wild, and completely unforgettable. “IT’S SCIENCE …..”

Turning 50 felt like the perfect time for my own version of “Senior” pictures, so I updated my professional photos.

Putting myself out there like this isn’t always easy, but I’m trying to embrace 50 — grey grow-out and all — and say

This is me.

🤍11 months of growing out my grey 🤍

🩵I finally cut bangs to officially get rid of the last of the old color ( in my bags area). Measured it out and it took 11 months to grow 4 inches. Yikes… my hair grows slow. That’s under 1/2 inch a month… Or does it grow slow!? Is this normal!?

🩵Here’s the thing — I have a client growing her white out too and she’s almost fully grown out already.. AND SHE STARTED AFTER ME!!! It really is different for everyone. Growth rate, texture, density — all of it plays a part. There’s no “normal,” just your normal.

🩵I also just gave myself a big chop all around to get rid of some of the remaining color. It feels so good to have some of the old gone. But I’m frustrated as a lot is still there. ✂️

🩵If it looks darker lately, that’s because I switched to OCS Silver shampoo to bring out the silver, neutralize the old gold color , and help everything blend without actually coloring it. Someone today asked if I “broke” and colored it again… nope 😂 Just good shampoo toning and doing its thing.

🩵I’m fully committed at this point, 1 month shy of a year. I know it will be fully grown out in 2027. And if I hate it. Yup. I’ll color it. Because I can! I’m committed now. But don’t need to be miserable about it! 😌 to be continued….

Full OCS transformation – red copper ➜ natural white 🤍

Starting point: red copper (the stubborn kind 😅)
Goal: embracing her natural white, clean + bright, without compromising the hair.

✨ Process from start to finish using ALL Organic Colour Systems ✨

We began by strategically lightening only the mid-shaft and ends using OCS Lightener — roots were never touched. Protecting the natural regrowth was non-negotiable here.

Lifted slowly and intentionally to a controlled yellow stage, aiming for the cleanest blonde possible without ever pushing past 90 minutes. Hair health > rushing the process.
Sometimes that last bit of yellow just isn’t ready in one session — and that’s okay. We respect the hair and trust the journey. You can see in the pictures some of the yellow in the hair and the toner needed more lift from the lightener to make it white. (BUT. ALL IN TIME!)

Once lifted, we cleansed with OCS Silver Shampoo to neutralize warmth and refine the blonde.

Followed immediately by Powerbuild Treatment to rebuild, strengthen, and restore integrity after lightening. This step is EVERYTHING when transitioning from any color.

Finished with a custom tone using OCS 11HS, Silver + just a drop of Grey Concentrate for a soft, natural, icy finish — never flat, never over-toned.

The result:
✨ Bright, dimensional, lived-in white
✨ Healthy, strong hair
✨ A seamless step toward her natural color

In 25 years of owning my salon, I’ve never had a plow company shovel my walkway… until now.

I turned on my cameras this afternoon to see what I was headed for and to my surprise, the walk was already completely shoveled.

At 3am this morning, such a small act that made a HUGE difference. The kind of care, pride, and extra effort you don’t forget.

Grateful for people (small businesses) who truly go above and beyond—especially when most of the world is still asleep. Thank you for taking care of me🙏
