Im sure you’ve heard input from various people on postpartum recovery here are few myths you may have heard.

Myth: I should be feeling great after giving birth.

Fact: Postpartum recovery is a long, slow process. You may feel tired, sore, and out of sorts for weeks after you've given birth. It's important to take care of yourself during this time—and to remember that what's normal can vary widely among women.

Myth: Your body will return to its pre-pregnancy size in a few weeks.

Fact: Your uterus will shrink back down to its normal size in about six weeks after giving birth, but your body will take much longer than that to recover from pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. And even if you are able to lose all the weight you gained during pregnancy, your body won't look exactly the same as it did before you got pregnant—it's just not possible for any woman's body to bounce back from pregnancy so quickly!
Take care of yourself during this time: eat nutritious foods and drink lots of water, get as much sleep as possible, and ask for help when you need it.It's also normal for your weight to stay elevated for some weeks or months following childbirth—don't be impatient with yourself in your postpartum weight loss efforts. Trust that if you eat well and exercise regularly (or again, when you're able!), you'll get back to a body that feels like yours again in time.

Surviving postpartum
Sleep has some magical healing powers not only for our body but for our mind and emotions as well. The more well-rested we are, the more we are able to better cope.

Ask for help- Believe it or not, many of your loved ones want to help you but may not know the best way to provide help. Asking for help does not mean you’re failing it simply means you’re human.

Track your emotions-You may be feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, hopeless, or more anxious than normal. Try as best you can to remind yourself that your hormones are fluctuating and trying to return back to normal, which can cause your emotions to fluctuate too. If you find yourself continuously suffering from anxieties and depression, communicate with someone to get you the help you need.

Be patient with bonding-Just like meeting any new stranger, it takes time to form a bond and get to know each other. For many moms, it can take several weeks to really start feeling that motherly bond with their baby. Give it time and don’t rush it.

Find your tribe- Connect with a local new moms group If you can’t find a new mom’s group, reach out to friends who have kids and invite them over. Just having someone else around you who can be a shoulder to cry on or hold your baby while you take a shower can be a major blessing.

Body acceptance-Recovering from childbirth is ano small feat. Be patient with your body. Many say it is common to still look five months pregnant for the first few weeks after childbirth because everything does not just snap back into place right away. Give yourself time and grace. Love yourself and your body and remember your amazing body just grew a little human.

Self-care- I know the last thing you want to think about is taking care of yourself while you have a little one requiring so much of you; however it is pivotal for you to squeeze in a little you time, you can’t pour from an empty glass. Play some relaxing music while feeding the baby, burn some candles while baby is napping, write in your journal the feelings you’re experiencing. Small little treats, is better than nothing.

Crafting can help you relax.

In addition to the creative boost, crafting can help you relax.

When you get home from work, school or running around with the kids all day, it's tough to unwind. You're still thinking about that presentation you gave at work or the fight you had with your partner or how angry your boss was when he saw that mistake in the report you turned in. It's hard to leave those thoughts behind when they keep running through your mind and continue to stress you out. But if instead of sitting on the couch worrying about them, you started a crafting project—whether it be knitting a hat or drawing some doodles—you'd find yourself relaxing almost instantly as your mind focuses on something else. As you guys know, I am ALL about mental wellness.

And for me, one thing that really helps is crafting!

I love to make soap and other small house decor and it is just so therapeutic for me. I love the small process of seeing the chemical changes when making soap And when it's finished? There's nothing like seeing something you made yourself and feeling so proud!

But it's not just soap making that can be great for mental wellness—any kind of creative outlet can help! Crafting can be great for your mental health because it:

-gives you something positive to focus on

-offers social interaction with people who have similar interests

-helps unlock your inner creativity

-provides a sense of accomplishment and pride in your work.

What’s your creative outlet to release stress and anxieties?

Hello and welcome to Crafts n Giggles! My name is Lee and I love all things crafty especially skincare. I've been passionate about skincare since I was in my late teens and fell in love with creating my own a little over 6 years ago.

My passion extends beyond crafting skincare; I’m advocate of mental health awareness and created a platform dedicated to crafting for mental wellness.

Studies have shown the positive effects crafting has on mental health and we are proud to offer a safe place to create.

Crafting for mental wellness has become a big of part of me. In the years of crafting skincare I learned the passion i developed was in the way I felt while creating. As an advocate for mental health m, A woman’s touch was born. My mission is to open a non-for-profit organization dedicated to moms who suffer from postpartum depression. We created a Patreon page to help with the process. If you’d like to be a part of our journey, visit our Patreon. Link in bio
