To start our Five Year Anniversary “Turning Pain Into Poems” Tour in Warren, Ohio was special because it was a celebration of how far my mother & I have come on our journey! Just like the seeds that we planted together we decided to grow in a new direction. I really hope you all remember that as your plants grow & bloom. And may they serve as reminders that you’re not alone. 🌱🌻

As I go through these photos I am emotional- ya’ll helped and supported me tremendously!! From wrapping the chairs and setting the tables, making store runs, making sure I breathe, all the last minute fill ins. I feel loved.

I AM LOVED. My friends really showed up near & far prepared!! My poetry family travelled from Rochester and drove right back (I won’t ever forget that) We had Dayton, Cleveland, Columbus, Akron, Youngstown, Warren and my baby hit the stage from Texas. The poets were in the building! At the door, behind the camera, as vendors and sitting in the audience. I am blessed from the ones that said yes from the beginning and the ones who were willing to step up last minute. I really I cried! You all helped me breathe! 🧘🏽‍♀️🙏🏽

Everyone who supported by buying a ticket & being in the building. It really means a lot. My family came 💗. Friends I haven’t seen in years. It was really nice to see you all. Even my sisters- who are my favorite people- purchased tickets to support me and I really appreciate them and you all. This is how the shows keep going. How voices and unspoken stories are finally heard safely.

Our venue host were accommodating and had more than everything we needed!!

To my mother who was willing to have tough uncomfortable conversations with me so that I can better understand & heal. 10 years ago I could not see it. But God.

These shows even change me. I noticed I cussed in one of my poems I didn’t mean to. That’s something I’ve been working on. 🫢
