Studio K is conveniently located on the corner of Alpine and Broadway. Our team includes some of the most talented, experienced and respected hair stylists and colorists in Rockford. Our upscale salon offers services ranging from hair, makeup, facial waxing, hair extensions, and weddings. Our goal is to deliver exceptional service while in a relaxing atmosphere. Carrying our own custom make up line 'Ooh La La' is free of talc and bismuth oxychloride, void of fillers and harsh additives. Gentle enough for any situation-from everyday sensitivities to delicate post-surgical skin. Micronized mineral powders contain natural healing qualities. Silky lipstick and glosses provide natural, healthy lip coverage and SPF protection. Non-aggressive foundations help conceal everything from post laser redness and Rosacea to blemishes and hyper pigmentation. Stop in for any special occasion or to update your seasonal look. We are proud to offer Clip-in Hair extensions. 🐾 Meet Sadie, our salon dog!
Sadie is 10 years old and has been part of the salon since day one. You used to be able to see her teeth marks on some of our old stations, so technically she helped with the remodeling too. 😂
Her official job titles include security, moral support, professional toy fetcher, and snack disposal.
She greets just about everyone who walks through the door… although hats, hoods, or anything covering your face may earn you a few suspicious barks. 😂
She’ll chase any reflection she sees, and for some reason the sound of a hairspray can sends her into action. She loves pets, belly scratches, behind-the-ear scratches, running around her property, chasing Frisbees, and wrestling with the cats.
Most of all, Sadie LOVES people. She gets excited about every new face that walks into the salon and has been making clients feel at home for 10 years now.
She’s not just the salon dog — she’s part of the team. 🖤🐾

Every Tuesday, our apprentices have class, focusing on something different each week.
School is a great foundation, but this is where we get to slow things down—small classes, hands-on training, and 1-on-1 instruction where we can really break down the details.
I love getting the chance to teach everything I wish someone would’ve taught me when I was new to the industry.
And we’re just getting started. 👀
Very soon, we’ll be adding live model cuts on Tuesday late mornings, giving our apprentices even more real-world experience.

Meet Kayla — owner of Studio K. 🩷
Kayla has officially been behind the chair for 21 years… but some would say it started way before that. First it was Barbie’s hair, then her sister’s, then friends on the school bus. 😂 Hair has pretty much always been part of who she is.
For the last 13 years, she’s been the owner of Studio K — building a business, a team, and a place that so many people have called home.
She loves everything hair, but color has always had her heart. You can hear her laugh from a mile away, and there’s a good chance she’s juggling three clients while somehow sweeping, dusting, cleaning, or finding something else that needs to be done.
She’s a hairstylist, business owner, mother, dog lover, and a huge fan of murder mysteries.
Studio K has grown a LOT over the last 13 years, and Kayla has poured so much of herself into making it what it is today.
But the coolest part?
She’s nowhere near done.
If you’ve loved watching what she’s built over the years, just wait until January.
