A Chapter We’re Closing and how it’s written. I love it.

After a lot of prayer, thought, and some very honest conversations as a family, we’ve made the difficult decision to stop offering our salt commercially and discontinue online orders.
There are three big reasons behind this decision.

First, we can’t sustain this level of growth alone while also being the mom and dad we want to be. Our girls are growing quickly, and they need more of us—not less. School, family, and simply being present for them matters deeply to us. And, if I’m being completely honest, my body had all the “check engine” lights on before I ever started this business. 😅 I’ve learned that just because you can keep pushing doesn’t always mean you should.

Second, we truly believe God is opening new doors for our family. I don’t know exactly what every one of those doors will hold yet, but I know we’re supposed to make room for them.

And third, I’ve always cared deeply about the purity and integrity of what we produced. As production grows, maintaining that same level of purity becomes increasingly difficult and becomes, well, just another blah salt mass produced. We would rather walk away while we can still say we gave you the very best we could than grow into something that no longer reflects what we set out to do.

But before we close this chapter, I want to say thank you.

At the height of our business, something extraordinary happened. We were entrusted with an abandoned cemetery that desperately needed care. With your support, we were able to turn the business into a nonprofit and pour so much of what we had into restoring and preserving that cemetery. It completely overtook our lives.

We purchased ground-penetrating radar. We cleared years of overgrowth and brush. We located graves that had been forgotten and missing from records. We worked to restore dignity to a place that deserved to be remembered.

And the fight isn’t over. We continue to advocate for the cemetery and its preservation, even though it is now on private property.

So when we look back at what we built, we don’t see just a salt business.

We see a community that helped us accomplish something far bigger than selling a product.

Customers came from across the country and around the world. We see messages, friendships, encouragement, and people who believed in what we were doing. We see a little business that became a vehicle for preserving history and honoring people who could no longer speak for themselves.

That is something we will always be incredibly proud of.

So, with a very full heart, we’re saying goodbye to commercial salt production and online orders.

The page will remain open. We may one day open back up with another project or another way to use this little platform to fund something meaningful. I certainly wouldn’t count us out forever. ❤️

But for now, we’re choosing our family, our health, our calling, and the doors God is opening next.

And most of all, thank you for being part of our story.

Prior to the Industrial Revolution this is how we made salt in New England. It was called white salt versus solar evaporated bay salt we are so acustomed to. Little salt shacks lined the coast of Maine and used cast iron pans for boiling.

The largest white salt producer was located on Ash Point Owls Head and was out of business by the Civil War. Fire evaporated salts were favored over bay salts due to its purity, taste and beauty. It also doesn’t require a grinder.

We are proud to keep this tradition alive!
