Melasma is a common skin condition of patchy
brown / gray-brown pigmentation, mainly affecting the high points of the face: the shoulders, neck and arms may be involved.

Most commonly affects:
- Women 👩🏽‍🦱> men 🧑🏽‍🦱 as
- Darker skin tones 👱🏾‍♀️ (due to increased melanocyte activity), ⬆️ skin types 3 & 4.
- Families 👨‍👩‍👧 ie increased genetic predisposition
-Those with increased hormonal levels e.g.🤰🏾& or on 💊 (birth control/ HRTs)

UV light exposure ☀️ and irritation from cosmetics &
skincare (due to inflammation) can worsen melasma.

Melasma can be quite stubborn to treatment, so combination
therapy is preferred:
✔️Active consistent Sun-protection; sunscreen (mineral
preferred over chemical for melasma, SPF at least 30), wide-brimmed 👒 seek the shade!
✔️Use of gentle skincare.
✔️Use of brightening topical agents; (Hydroquinone, tretinoin,steroids, cysteamine cream, azelaic acid, kojic acid) under
supervision with regularly scheduled reviews!
✔️Antioxidants: Vitamin C + E.
✔️Procedures; laser, dermabrasion, chemical peel, IPL : only allow expert use!

Dealing with acne prone skin can be tough. It can be mentally and physically draining. There are many factors to consider when trying to clear and maintain your acne prone skin. Things such as diet, stress, work environment, detergent, etc can effect your skin.

This beautiful client is in my acne boot camp program and Is healing beautifully! She is compliant with her home care twice a day and comes in for her scheduled treatments! Nothing comes over night but with continued treatments tailored to specifically fit her skin care needs she will be well on her way to HEALTHY FILTER FREE SKIN 😍

BLACKHEADS OR SEBACEOUS FILAMENT 🤔
Sebaceous filament❗️

⚡️Although they look similar to blackheads in the skin, sebaceous filaments are actually naturally-occurring tube like structures that line the wall of your pores.

⚡️When you have an over production of sebum in your skin, the oil can build up and start to harden until it eventually stretches the pore and starts to poke out of the skin (looking like a little hair)
