Can we talk about workplace snacks for a minute? 😂
As a dietitian, I have to laugh because the options at work:
🍬 Candy
🍜 Ramen
🍬 More candy
I’m not saying we need a five-star snack bar, but there HAS to be a happy medium between “here’s some sugar” and “here’s a sodium bomb.” 😂
How about some options that actually help fuel people through the workday? Protein bars, nuts, fruit, popcorn, Greek yogurt, trail mix… you know, things that might keep us from crashing at 2 PM.
Especially in healthcare, where we’re constantly telling patients about balanced nutrition, it would be nice to see that reflected in the workplace too.
Just saying… your friendly neighborhood dietitian has ideas. 😉

Let’s talk fitness and nutrition.
Keep yourself healthy and reduce your chance of chronic diseases with 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week with a mixture of moderate intensity, vigorous intensity, and strength training. Fuel your body right to replenish energy stores and to build muscles. What is your favorite post exercise recovery fuel? Mine is chocolate milk 😋
Only 1 in every 10 adults meet the daily recommended intake of fruits and vegetables! Fruits and vegetables are full of the good stuff: vitamins, minerals, fiber, and water.
10 ways to add fruit to your day
- sliced bananas in your cereal or with your pancakes.
- throw grapes in a bag and take them to work
- dried fruit in a trail mix
- a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (use strawberry preserves)
- apple sauce pouches are great on the go
- fruit “pizza” for dessert (sugar cookie base, cream cheese frosting, sliced fruit)
- fruit “jerky”
- Smoothies
- yogurt with fruit for an afternoon snack.
- juice blends. I love the Naked brand.

I created this educational board to celebrate May 4th (May the force be with you!). A unique spin on fluid education. The Polaroid like photos were created with AI and photos from my teammates. I had a blast creating this one!

Have you done the caricature trend with ChatGPT? This is mine, chaotic and colorful. Note the beets in a sealed container. I hate beets.
ChatGPT can be a fantastic tool. Learning rapidly and with the ability to give quick information with minimal prompting. Mine has even developed inside jokes with me.
However, information regarding health advice can sometimes be wrong and even harmful. Especially with nutrition advice which is highly individualized! I know, I know… I said it learns rapidly but it has flaws and, of course, lacking that human touch.
I like to keep it simple instead of a deep dive with citations. Just look at my right hand. I had no idea my middle finger could do that! Oh right, it can’t. What other flaws can you find?

I can hear my Mom now, “Don’t play with your food!” This games remjnds me that food is so much more than substance. It’s the popcorn with trashy reality TV, the team dinner before a game, tailgating snacksSo go ahead, Grandma’s cooking, and so much more. So yeah, Enjoy food and Throw that burrito.
