Val Frazee Hair
A beautiful Salon in North Austin offering cuts, color, facials, and more.
After we have shampooed the hair, the next step is to condition properly. This is a crucial step when we are styling curly hair. I want to make sure that we are utilizing the water with the conditioner so that we get the hair properly conditioned and moisturized.
By understanding the pH level of the water versus the conditioner we are also able to understand how to utilize the conditioner to enhance and make our curls nice and hydrated.
Stay tuned to see how we style this hair
Shampooing the hair properly is one of the most important steps to making sure you have a successful curly styling service.
When I am shampooing my curly hair clients in the salon, I teach them how to shampoo and walk them through why itβs so important.
The more we can inform our clients on how to shampoo and take care of their curly hair, the more empowered they are to style their curls successfully.
we love helping our clients learn as much as they can about their curls.
Properly shampoo your hair is the number one thing we should be teaching our salon guests. Itβs so trivial to talk about getting the hair properly saturated but this is where so many of us fail.
Working through the hair as if you are shampooing and saturations the hair really sets it up for a good shampoo.
I like to explain this to the people in my chair. Especially when I have a new salon guest. Part of my job is to teach them about their hair and how to take care of it.
Stay tuned for part 2!

β
Great hair getting done

β
Nobody judging anybody about any of it ππ

At the salon, we donβt take tips. Tips are outdated. Tips are like a performance review that we didnβt ask for.
So how do we do it at the salon? We charged by the hour. We quote you an exact price when we know what you want to get. The commission structure is consistent. And the stylist are in charge of their pricing.
Thatβs it thatβs all we look forward to seeing you in our chair. Book with us today and see why weβre pretty big deal.
Can I be honest with you for a second? π
This was never what I dreamed of. I had a whole other vision for my life. Hairdresser wasnβt in it.
And yet here I am β 27 years in β sitting across from a client in a consultation I take more seriously than almost anything else. Listening. Really listening. Before a single scissor touches a single curl.
I donβt know exactly when this work became my calling. But somewhere along the way it did. Quietly. Fully. In a way I didnβt expect and couldnβt have planned for.
Now I own a salon built entirely around the things I believe in. π
That your time matters. That your stylist should be YOURS for every minute of your appointment with no one else competing for their attention. That pricing should be honest and transparent with no surprises and no tipping and no add-ons. That curly hair should be cut dry because that is where it lives and that is where it deserves to be respected. That every person β every gender, every texture, every identity, every story β deserves a chair where they feel completely safe. π
The world is really dark right now. I feel it every day.
And every day I come back to this. One consultation. One person. One hour of genuine presence and care.
Itβs not everything. But itβs something. And some days something is everything. π
I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

βItβs too fluffy.β
βItβs NOT too fluffy.β
βWell I just SAID it was.β ππ
Welcome to my Emmy nominated TV debut. πΊ
I was cast as a hairdresser in a scene on American Crime β ABC drama starring Felicity Huffman β filmed right here in Austin TX.
My character had just done her hair. She hated it. It was fluffy. The panic was real. And relatable. π¬βοΈ
The fun part? I actually am a hairdresser. Art imitated life in the most specific way possible. ππ
The even better part? The panicked version of me in that scene has been replaced by someone who did the work.
I have been coaching with Kyle Huntsberry .honey.hair of Milk Honey Soul through β and the clarity that comes from real, intentional business coaching is something I wish every salon owner had access to.
My business is not built on panic. It is built on purpose. π
Hourly pricing. No tipping. No double booking. All inclusive. Stylists who are paid fairly and trusted completely. A space where every person feels seen.
The Mirror & I was not an accident. It was a decision β made clearer every single coaching session.
27 years. A TV credit. Zero regrets. ππβοΈ
Thank you and .honey.hair π£
